The impact of Covid-19 on residents, families, care homes, and community support staff has been an emotional rollercoaster, with concerns about recognition, anxiety, fatigue levels, and the balance between visiting benefits and Covid-19 transmission risks. National guidance emphasizes the importance of maintaining opportunities for visiting while considering the individual needs and well-being of residents. The evolving framework aims to balance infection risk and health in care homes through measures such as infection prevention and control, personal protective equipment, staff mental and physical health support, and new ways of working.
