Assessment of knowledge improvement before and after training sessions for health staff and community volunteers on Community Based Growth Promotion. The training resulted in significant skills gained among non-health staff, harmonizing essential nutrition actions, and positive changes in beliefs and actions related to gender roles. Additionally, the effect of monitoring and supportive supervision on health staff performance was highlighted. The community engagement activities have led to improved practices and gender equity in households.

Assessment of staff and community volunteers knowledge before and after trainings Knowledge scores for Health Staff & Community Volunteers Trained on Community Based Growth Promotion (CBGP) Institutional Staff (GHS, DoFA, GES, NCCE, District Assembly , DSD and EHD) Trained in use of Lot Quality Assessment for Monitoring Total = 71 Total = 28 ***p-value <0.001 Skills Gained as Expressed by Trained Non-Health Staff They took us through the sampling technique, data collection, and then data inputting. They also took us through constructing questionnaires. (In Depth Interview with Non Health Staff) ***p-value <0.001 Harmonizing Essential Nutrition Actions Knowledge Gained Among Non- Health Staff We learnt how to administer questionnaires and also how to input data and the report of the data . (In Depth Interview with Non Health Staff) Notes and Recommendations Total = 27 ***p-value <0.001

Changes in beliefs & actions related to gender roles & equity attributed to gender training From Community Chiefs' Perspective From a man s perspective The chiefs confirmed that settling family and intimate partner violence disputes has stop. They now spend most of the evening playing with their wives and children. He said I learnt that home duties are not meant for women alone. If the woman is preparing food, the man must also bathe the children. Also if the woman has a baby and that child is disturbing the mother while she is pounding fufu, the man can carry the child and play with him or her. That will improve the growth of the family. If you go to the farm, don t expect the woman alone to carry the load to the house like (food stuffs) but you can help the woman to carry the load because both of you worked on the farm. You can help the woman to cut fire wood. The man must carry the food stuffs so that the woman also carries the firewood [Focus Group Discussion, Community Member]. the Gender and Diversity activity has brought peace to many homes because now most men are helping their wives, which is lessening the burden on the women and this has contributed in bringing peace to most homes. The women are also able to rest which is good for her health . Notes and Recommendations From a Woman s Perspective Mamle explained that her husband after participating in the second gender and diversity sensitization began to help out in household chores and in taking care of the children. Whenever I am busy cooking, my husband will always help to prepare the kids for school We now spend quality time together.
