Introduction Understanding gender and development issues Global female population:49.58% Liberia s female population 49.7% Agriculture make up 70% of Liberia s labor force out of which Women constitute 75% Women make up 54% of the labor force in formal and informal sectors. Women are disproportionately represented in low- skilled, low-paying jobs and the wage gap between male and female persist

  4. Understanding gender and development issues Fewer women in leadership positions eg. Less than 13% in Legislature Literacy among adult women is far lower (41%) than for men (70%) School completion rate is lower among girls than boys
