  2. 2021 Graduates 346 responses All undergraduate programmes represented, including: 88 Medicine (five year) 41 Medicine (graduate entry) 62 BMS 37 Paramedic Science 25 Physiotherapy Limited engagement from postgraduate students

  3. Strong demand to attend an in-person ceremony

  4. There is limited interest in a virtual celebration

  5. There is support for holding an alternative event this summer to mark the end of a course

  6. What was most important for graduating cohort? Opportunity to have photo taken in graduation robes (84% rated as 5 very important ) Celebrating with programme cohort (73% rated it a 5) Having family present (70% rated a 5) A formal venue in London (56% rated a 5) My name being read out (53% rated a 5)

  7. In their words Any in person celebration would be appreciated. In my opinion an online Zoom type celebration would be the worst option. We have all spent the best part of an entire year sat at home in front of our screens and that is the last thing that I wish to do more of. The most important thing is to be able to remember the huge achievement of graduating with a professional photograph opportunity in graduation gowns. Secondly to have an in person celebration of some kind would be amazing, even if we have to wait a while for it to be allowed.

  8. In their words To be invited to future graduations would be insulting. Both the graduated of 2020 and 2021 deserve their own ceremonies. Any other option would not suffice. Students graduating from MBBS are unlikely to be able to attend in person graduation ceremonies held after summer due to work commitments and being placed anywhere around the country. A more informal ceremony giving us a chance to celebrate in our gowns would be much preferred this summer. I understand it may be difficult with family and friends attending, an alternative would be to have a short ceremony with only students, giving a virtual link for family and friends and then letting us celebrate with them elsewhere afterwards.

  9. So whats next?

  10. A commitment to a future graduation ceremony Working with Barbican on options for dates for formal ceremonies for 2020 and 2021 graduates Considering their planning for social distancing Planning to keep cohorts together following feedback Will update as soon as we can
