  2. Our History Our History One-room school of five students (formerly Patterson Park Montessori) started in 2006. Today has grown to 215 students (124 preschool and 91 elementary and middle school). We are multilingual and multicultural. We practice Montessori principles of learning. We have more than 50 staffers from all over the world (U.S., China, Spain, Cuba, El Salvador, Chile, Venezuela, Ethiopia, Puerto Rico).

Elementary at The New Century School Elementary at The New Century School Mixed-age classrooms Individualized instruction differentiated learning environments Small class sizes Through the use of inquiry, students receive a thorough grounding in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) Heavy focus on language instruction (three 45-minute classes per day are taugh in English, Mandarin, and Spanish language arts). Our Students learn to speak, read and write in all three languages. PE, Art, and Music. Inquiry-based learning methodology Curriculum students start with a question and seeks to resolve and answer the question through research and exploration. Success Maker Singapore Math Montessori Math The Daily 3, 4, 5 Units of Study in Persuasive, Information, and Narrative Writing Junior Great Books Raz Kids Engineering is Elementary Academic Day starts at 8:30 am and ends at 3:30 pm.

Parent Community Parent Community Education reformists are clear that cooperation between school and home is essential to meeting a child s needs, and parent involvement is where that connection is made. From volunteering to participating in school events, each TNCS family is a member of our diverse community and a partner and stakeholder in our students success. Everyone at TNCS is also a member of our surrounding community, and we participate yearlong in community outreach initiatives.

  7. Healthy Lifestyles at The New Century School Healthy Lifestyles at The New Century School growing, cooking, and eating. growing, cooking, and eating. TNCS offers a popular lunch program by Chef Danielle featuring all natural, wholesome, locally sourced, in-season food expanding our students young pallets. Our students participate in growing and harvesting fruits and vegetables, while learning sustainability and environmental practices. Our vegetarian lunches frequently use fresh produce harvested from our greenhouse. We are a low-sugar and nut-free school.

  8. The Academic Year at TNCS The Academic Year at TNCS Preschool students enjoy 183 academic days. Elementary and middle School students enjoy 181 academic days. Contracts written for the academic year during the last week of August through the second week of June

Before and After Care and Before and After Care and Extracurricular Activities at TNCS Extracurricular Activities at TNCS Before Care is offered to all students at TNCS, with the earliest drop off time of 7:30 am. Dismissal is at 3:30 pm, and After Care is offered to all students at TNCS. Parents can opt for pick up times by 4:00 pm, 5:00 pm, or 6:00 pm. Elementary and middle school students may participate in exciting extracurricular activities, from music lessons on a variety of instruments to Lego Club, Conversational Spanish/Chinese Club, Yoga, Ballet, Latin Dance, Karate, Art Club, and Hiking Club to name just a few!

  10. Summer at TNCS Summer at TNCS Summer Camps offered for 9 weeks and open to TNCS and external students run from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm daily. Preprimary and primary camps are offered each week. Elementary and middle school students are eligible to participate in exciting weekly camps such as Theatre Camp, Camp Invention, Music Camp, Chinese Immersion, Spanish Immersion, Painting Workshop, Circus Camp, and Lego Camp.

  11. How to Apply & Important Dates How to Apply & Important Dates All applicant parent(s)/guardian(s) must attend either an Admissions Friday Tour or an Open House. Applications for the 2018 2019 academic year can be found on our website. Applications are due by January 3, 2018 for Elementary and Middle school, and admissions process (shadow, parent interview) completed by January 19, 2017. Preschool applications are due January 31, 2018. Applications may be emailed to admissions@thenewcenturyschool.com (preferred method). Financial Aid applications (offered to Elementary and Middle School students only), must be completed by February 1, 2018. Once applications are received and reviewed by the Admissions Committee, student candidates are invited for a required Student Shadow Day (between November and February). External candidate contract offerings are announced by February 20, 2018.
