The Baltimore City Tobacco Control Programs, led by Director Kamala T. Green, focus on enforcement, prevention, use, and cessation of tobacco products. Tobacco Free Baltimore In 2000, the Maryland General Assembly created the Cigarette Restitution Fund (CRF) Program with funds derived from the 1998 Master Tobacco Settlement Agreement with the tobacco industry. The goal of the CRF Program is to implement strategies to reduce the burden of tobacco related disease in Maryland, with a specific emphasis on tobacco use prevention and cessation and cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment. As a result of the CRF Program, Maryland has created focused tobacco-use prevention and cessation programs, cancer prevention, education, and screening programs, cancer research programs, and a strong statewide network of cancer and tobacco local community health coalitions.   3. Tobacco Free Baltimore This program educates, encourages, and empowers children and youth to choose life over tobacco and tobacco related products. There are in-class custom lesson plans for Pre-K - 12 Grades for students in Baltimore City. The lessons focus on tobacco and tobacco related products education and preventing initiation.   5. Tobacco Cessation The Health Department s Tobacco Cessation program s mission is to assist Baltimore City Residents in their goals to be smoke free. This program uses Behavioral Health 2 and BCHD s HealthiAir curriculums. In addition to the free resources provided by the Health Department, participants are strongly encouraged to utilize MDQuit.   6. Tobacco Cessation The Baltimore City Health Department provides smoking cessation classes at various Enoch Pratt Free Library branches throughout Baltimore city. The following is the current list of locations, dates and times: Pennsylvania Ave. Branch Library 1531 W. Tobacco Enforcement The Baltimore City Health Department Office of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention conducts visits with tobacco enforcement officers to provide education on Maryland laws concerning tobacco and tobacco related products to tobacco retailers. Compliance checks are also conducted to ensure no sales of tobacco products are to persons under 21 within Baltimore City. Bernard C.
