  2. PROPOSAL INSTRUCTIONS Neighborhood Challenge is intended to spark new ideas and approaches to common neighborhood and commercial corridor issues. The competition is designed to invest in community-based development organizations to partner with technology companies to create and implement tools that address specific commercial district issues. Awards will go to the most innovative projects with high potential to generate impact on commercial district challenges, serve as a catalyst for long-term sustainability and positive economic impact, and that may otherwise not be achieved due to limited organizational capacity and/or funding. Checklist: Review the guidance included on each slide and be sure that your proposal addresses each point. Keep this deck to a maximum of 10 slides, not including the cover, and following the template. Make sure to delete all italicized guidance text before submitting. Please delete this page before submitting. Attachments: In addition to the proposal template, be sure to include the following in your application: List of members of the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers of the proposal team. For each staff member that will be working on the project, indicate their role, responsibilities, and time allocation. Relevant letters of support or proof of additional resources being added to the proposed project FY2016 actual operating budget of the organization FY2017 approved operating budget of the organization Email the final version of your proposal to NeighborhoodChallenge@sbs.nyc.gov by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2017.

  3. VISION DESCRIBE YOUR VISION FOR YOUR COMMUNITY AND HOW THE PROJECT WILL ADDRESS A NEED. Guidance: Discuss the specific commercial corridor challenge(s) that your project seeks to address. Explain your theory of how the project would solve that challenge. Discuss how the project fits into your broader, longer-term goals for the commercial district and community. IMPLEMENTATION TIMELINE DESCRIBE HOW YOU INTEND TO ADDRESS THIS NEED AND MOVE TOWARD REALIZING YOUR VISION OVER A ONE-YEAR PERIOD (STARTING MARCH 2016) Guidance: Include a step-by-step outline of your project, with the month in which each step will occur.   5. OUTCOME / IMPACT DESCRIBE THE OUTCOMES YOU INTEND TO ACHIEVE FOR YOUR COMMUNITY WITH THIS PROJECT. Guidance: Include short-term (over the one-year period) and longer-term outcomes. Describe specific metrics you will use to evaluate the project. What numbers would you look for to know that the project succeeded?
