  2. Green Valley Green Committee Mission Develop a program to remove trash and other accumulated debris. Promote education, outreach, and awareness to prevent recurrence of discard and dumping. Restore natural areas to green space free of trash and invasive plant species to increase the beauty and enjoyment of this historic neighborhood. 2

  4. 2021 Programs 01 02 03 04 GVCA s Earth Day Clean-Up - April 24, 2021 GreenValley Neighborhood Clean-Up Day - May 15, 2021 Invasive Plant Species Removal Fall 2021 TBD Adopt-A- Street Ongoing, once per quarter 4

April 24, 2021 - 11 AM 1 PM A special one-day clean up event to kick off our annual programming Please reach out to our committee to help us identify areas within the neighborhood that need the most attention We will supply trash bags and a few tools Volunteers to bring their own gloves, masks, sunscreen, water, other supplies Earth Day Clean-Up 5

  6. May 15, 2021 7 11 AM Annual one-day event to clear out unwanted bulk household items and place curbside on evening of May 14, 2021 Two County collection trucks will pick up curbside 1 for metal; 1 for other refuse Accepted items: household goods building materials recreational equipment some automobile parts Excluded items: hazardous waste (household paint, motor oil, car batteries, tires) concrete electronics (TVs and computer monitors) yard waste brush Committee members are available to respond to questions and to help coordinate pick-up of other special items GreenValley Neighborhood Clean-Up Day 6

Fall 2021 TBD Invasive plants cause harm to natural resources, economic activity, or humans Green Valley invasive species include: Chinese privet bush honeysuckle English ivy porcelain berry Complete list of Virginia invasive species plant list: https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/natural- heritage/document/nh-invasive-plant-list-2014.pdf We hope to invite experts to speak with us about invasive plant species removal goals for our neighborhood. Sponsored by Arlington County s Department of Environmental Services Commitment of 1 year with duties performed on a quarterly basis Solid Waste Bureau provides buckets, gloves, vests, and goggles, and will arrange for special pick up of sweeping debris Adopt-A- Street Hayley Gambone, the AAS County Coordinator, will speak at GVCA April 5, 2021 meeting Are you interested in adopting your street?
