How many credits are required to graduate from High School???
Diploma Options Standard Diploma: New Requirement for Freshmen: 23 credits Extra flex credit: Earn this by: 2ndor 3rdCTE Completer course, 4thyear of math, 3rdyear of science, or 4thyear of Social Studies Advanced Diploma (eligible for Millennium Scholarship): (24 credits) (3.25 GPA) 4 Yrs of Math, 3 Yrs of Science Honors Diploma: (24 credits) (3.4 GPA) 8 credits of honors classes 2 years of the same World Language 2 credits in Biology, Chemistry or Physics New College and Career Ready (CCR) Diploma: Advanced Diploma and 2 credits of: World Language or other specific credits (info to come) Endorsements: College Ready: ACT and or SAT minimum score Career Ready: ASVAB, NCRC, CTE or Industry Credential More detailed info to come
What is the WCSD Curriculum? Requirements: ADDITIONAL YEAR OF MATH (4) AND SCIENCE (3) FULL LOAD OF 6 CLASSES UNLESS OPT OUT REQUIREMENTS MET See: North Star 4 year Course Guide
Other Course Options Dual Credit College courses through TMCC CTE (Signature Academy) programs at zone school: earn college credit/certification. Extended Studies credit (Next Door) PE AP Credits and other courses (NV Learning Academy must pay) Internships: Through CTE Dept. Off Campus online courses: BYU (must Pay) Please make an appointment with me to discuss questions regarding any of these.
Science Exam Students must take the Federally required Science Exam. The exam will take place late Spring Based on Biology
Success Checklist Attendance is SO IMPORTANT! You must complete one assignment in each of your classes to be counted as present for the week. Communicate with teachers!! Respond to teacher webmail ASAP Ask Questions ASAP!! Once you ask your teacher about an assignment, move onto another lesson until you hear back Finals You must take your final within 2 weeks of finishing a class

College Admission Requirements UNR: English (4 credits) Math (3 credits- through Algebra 2) Social Studies (3 credits) Science (3 credits- two lab sciences) *Minimum 3.0 GPA SAT score of 1040/ACT score of 22* Anyone with a high school diploma can TMCC: attend! Out of State:Tend to be very competitive! Take as many AP and Honors courses that you can be successful in. Research admission requirements early on! * Many require 2 years same foreign language and 1 year of visual/performing art
Thinking of playing sports in College? What you need to know about NCAA Eligibility! Division I: 16Core Courses English, Math, Science, Social Science Additional coursework from above areas SAT/ACT scores (must be sent directly to NCAA from Test Centers) NCAA does notaccept CBE s, A Plus, or BYU: Pass your classes the first time in the classroom! Not all courses are NCAA approved!! Review approved courses at: www.eligibilitycenter.org
College Planning Tips WHAT ARE COLLEGES LOOKING FOR? GPA Test scores Class rank (AP & Honors classes weight gpa s for rank) Volunteer Work/Community Service (quality vs. quantity) Activities, clubs, athletics, awards- leadership! Evidence of special talent Employment First generation college student
Your Grade Point Average GPA = the sum of grades in all classes (A=4; B=3; C=2; D=1; F=0 no credit) added together and DIVIDED by the number of classes Many colleges and universities only count CORE classes (English, science, math, social science, World Language, etc.) in GPA calculation Add .025 (honors) or .050 (AP) to GPA for every semester taken to calculate your weighted GPA
New Senior Year requirements Seniors must meet certain requirements to opt out of 6 class load! No more off campus if requirements aren t met! Grades/minimum GPA (3.0) Credits/minimum 17 after 5th semester (fall of Junior Year) Minimum ACT score 22
