Overview of 2021-22 Deans Compact Incentive Grants

In the 2021-22 academic year, a total of 19 Incentive Grants were awarded to teams from 16 Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) under the Deans Compact program. The grants focused on areas such as Advancing PSO, Developing inclusive teacher preparation programs, and more. Different teams worked on various domains including recruitment, cultural competence, support, and sustainability. The teams benefited from Communities of Practice (CoP) and most are on track to fulfill grant requirements.

  2. 19 IGs awarded to teams from 16 IHEs DEW (11 grants) Advancing PSO (6 grants) Developing inclusive teacher preparation programs (2 grants) Data source: grant teams annual performance reports NOT evaluative (focus is on commonalities/differences across projects)

DEW Grants Six full grants; five planning grants Teams attended to four domains: (1) recruitment, (2) cultural competence/self-reflection of bias, (3) support, and (4) sustainability/scalability 10 of 11 teams focused on building a specific recruitment pathway (e.g., a grow your own program with partnering district) Teams relied on PD to promote cultural competence/self-reflection of bias Teams established mentoring programs Teams used financial supports to achieve sustainability/scalability (e.g., working on loan forgiveness, applying for SEED grants, etc.) Nine of 11 teams remain on track All teams appreciative of CoP

  4. Post-Secondary Outcomes Grants Six grant teams: two worked to develop curriculum modules, two worked on projects related to self-determination, and two worked on mentoring projects All teams on track to meet their goals All teams benefitted from CoP

  5. Dual-Licensure Grants Two grant teams: one will lead to dual-licensure as a K-12 intervention specialist (mild-to-moderate educational needs) and a P- 12 physical educator while the other has two pathways: one for middle childhood education and another for adolescent-young adult education. One team has fallen behind Both teams benefited from CoP

  6. Reflections All teams marshalled diverse groups of stakeholders All teams benefitted from the CoP All but two teams remain on track to fulfill grant requirements Many distinct approaches to the work
