Introducing COUNTER 5 Report Tool by UPEI - Comprehensive Library Data Analysis
This tool developed by UPEI Computer Science students in collaboration with Melissa Belvadi offers a comprehensive solution for harvesting, managing, and analyzing COUNTER R5 data from vendors. The desktop app, written in Python, allows easy vendor management, report harvesting, data visualization, cost analysis, and more. It is entirely local, portable, and versatile for individual libraries. Download and install from GitHub for a live demo and access to detailed project information.

Introducing the COUNTER 5 Report Tool Melissa Belvadi, UPEI May 2020
Basic Info What is it - COUNTER 5 SUSHI harvester, report manager, analysis tool Who made it? UPEI CompSci students working with Melissa Belvadi Where to get it: https://github.com/CS-4820-Library-Project/COUNTER-5- Report-Tool Desktop app for Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, written entirely in Python Entirely local desktop - no local server needed at all Uses sqlite3 for search database - local file Totally portable, all files and settings stored in folders below app (eg no Windows registry settings) - very easy to share config data with other staff Can run multiple instances in different folders and simultaneously Not for consortia, just individual libraries (no COUNTER consortial reports)
Basic SUSHI R5 info SUSHI is the "API" protocol for COUNTER R5 set of rules for getting the COUNTER R5 data from your vendors via automation It requires you to get from your vendors your particular account credentials: customer_id requestor_id (optional per vendor) api_key (optional per vendor) Vendors may have other limitations, e.g., only accept connections from some IP addresses, require different credentials for different platforms
Summary of Functionality Vendor management - Stores full SUSHI account info per vendor/platform Report harvesting Fetches ALL R5 reports (master and views) supported by vendor Fetch basic calendar year reports quickly Mid-year will re-harvest YTD and overwrite earlier partials Fetch specific reports and for specific date ranges Fetch customized Master reports with user-selected attributes and metrics Import manual reports - can import COUNTER 5 and COUNTER 4 reports downloaded manually Searchable database updated for all calendar-year default reports Analysis - Basic "data visualization" feature for generating line, bar charts in Excel from searches Cost analysis - Can upload cost data to use in "data visualization" reports - PR, DR, TR, IR level
