  3. UCAS What happens next?

  4. Offers from University Unconditional offer: A firm offer of a place. You may still have to meet some non- academic requirements, like a Disclosure and Barring Service check. Conditional offer: An offer of a place, as long as you meet some conditions. All conditions should clearly state what you re expected to do, by when, and must be in your control to achieve. Withdraw: If you don t attend the interview or don t reply to correspondence, or if the training programme becomes full and a recruitment control is applied, then the training provider will withdraw your application. This means your application won t be considered further. If you want to be considered again by that training provider, you d need to apply through Extra. Unsuccessful: your application has been unsuccessful. We can only give you a reason why you ve been unsuccessful if the training provider has told us. We do encourage them to do this.

  5. What to do with the offers? Once all offers/rejections have been received, your choices need to be made on Track You can firm and insure before all decisions have been made (withdraw from others), but it will not put you at a disadvantage to wait until all are in. If you wait until all offers are in, UCAS will notify students with a deadline: Firm (CF)- This is the first choice. The University applicants will go to if they meet the entry requirements. Insurance (CI)- This is the University applicants will go to if they don t meet the entry requirements for the CF. Applicants cannot choose between CF and CI on results day. All other offers are declined University offers - conditional, unconditional, unsuccessful & withdrawn (ucas.com)

  6. Deadlines for UCAS responses for 2023 entry Unis: 18 May 2023 if you send your application by 25 January 2023. 12 July 2023 if you send your application by 30 June 2023. If a uni you ve applied to doesn t make a decision by the appropriate deadline, that choice will be automatically made unsuccessful. You: If you receive your last decision on or before 18 May 2023, your reply date is 8 June 2023 (except if you're using Extra to find a place). If you receive your last decision on or before 12 July 2023, your reply date is 17 July 2023 (including Extra choices). https://www.ucas.com/ucas/undergraduate/apply-and-track/track-your- application/replying-your-ucas-undergraduate-offers

  7. Extra from 25th February- 4th July Extra is another chance for students to gain a place at university or college. To use Extra: Had a notification from UCAS that you are eligible and allowed use of the button on Track to apply for courses. Already made five choices and received decisions from all these choices, and either had no offers or declined all the offers that they have received. Originally had less than 5 choices on their application (have to pay an additional fee) Additional courses must be confirmed directly with the institution whether they will consider the application Students may decide to apply for a course in a different subject area. Please note, however, that another personal statement may be required for this application. Students can only deal with one institution at a time an make successive applications should the application be rejected or they choose to decline Have to wait 21 days before able to change selection in extra Not accepted any offers by 5th July- can use clearing https://www.ucas.com/undergraduate/after-you-apply/types-offer/extra-choices

  8. Study Leave and Exam Season The vast majority of you will be granted study leave, allowing you to study at home during the period of your exams. Some of you may choose to study in school some, or all of this period. Rooms will be allocated to you for this purpose. Sign in and out in the usual manner. Study leave will commence some time during the week beginning 15th May. Schedule for the last day in school to be released shortly. Letters regarding arrangements for study leave, the exam period and results day will be sent to your parents during the first week of the new term. Prepare early, be on time and stay positive.

  9. Results day 17th August 2023 Please do not be away on holiday Universities receive the results in advance and so can make decisions about applicants Students will find out these decisions first on Track on the morning of results day (about 8am)

  10. Results day 17th August 2023 If the Conditional Firm offer is met then the place will be confirmed (and become UF unconditional firm) If the Conditional Insurance offer is met then that place will be confirmed as for a CF. If neither the CF or CI offer is met there is still a chance that the student may be accepted but . If not the student becomes eligible for Clearing

  11. Clearing Clearing is designed to match students without places with course vacancies or for students who have not previously applied Opens on 5th July (for students unsuccessful in securing an offer during the application process including Extra) before and closes on 17th October, 2023. Start of the full Clearing vacancy search is results day. Clearing Plus also opens Looking for a course in Clearing? Learn how Clearing works & find a new place (ucas.com)

  12. Deferring your place Defered Entry To University | UCAS Usually you can only defer your entry by one year, and it s up to the university or college whether they accept it for your course. The conditions of your offer won t change even though the date of entry does. If you have applied for 2023 but would now like to defer, it will be up to your university or college to approve this. You should call them to check, but be ready to explain your reasons. If you have been offered a place for 2023 but would now like to defer, it will again be up to the university or college. As this is considered a late deferral, you may be asked to reapply. If you defer your place then change your mind, you will need to contact the university or college. This process is not straightforward, and will depend on whether there are places available on the course. Clearing places cannot be defered. You have until your start date to defer your choice Whatever your choice come the summer, please complete the destinations sheet on results day We have to report this information to govenors and government! From September this year, this information will also form part of the reference for applicants in the 2024 cohort. - -

  13. Applying next year? Let me know I will send you the buzzword so that you can link to the centre You can complete the whole application or just ask for a reference only. References have changed, so I will need more information from you- what you are doing in your gap year, what course you are applying for, and what valuable work experience you have gained during your year. Personal statements are due to change for applicant too, but this should not apply to you if you are applying to uni for 2024 entry

  24. Repayment Student Loan Repayment | UCAS | When And What You Have To Pay You ll only repay when your income is over 480 a week, 2,083 a month or 25,000 a year (before tax and other deductions). If your pay drops below the threshold your repayments will stop (prioritise paying your overdraft or credit cards). You ll usually repay your student loan directly from your payslip, in a similar way to how you pay income tax. A student loan is very unlikely to affect your ability to get a mortgage (The Council for Mortgage Lenders ) Mortgage lenders are most interested in your monthly income (Ability to repay), so useful to tell them you have a loan Student loans do not go on credit files
