Byron Youth Baseball Association PARENT MEETING 02/19/2025
Levels of Play Grade based. Rare exceptions based on birthdate due to league rules may force a player to move up an age group. Completing K through 8thgrade in spring
Leagues of Play In-House Rookies Travel Leagues Southern Minny League (SML) Metro Baseball League (MBL)
Rookies Completing Kindergarten or 1st grade (6U/7U) In-house league; hybrid coach pitch/t-ball One night combined practice night; Mondays One night game night; Wednesdays at Valley View
Travel Leagues Southern Minny League (SML). Rochester developmental league for ages 8U through 13U. Not tryout based. Metro Baseball League (MBL). AA level teams at 10U-14U (4th-8th grade). Extended area town/city based can extend to the south Metro area. A level teams if numbers allow/interest at age groups. Tryout based.
Travel Leagues Completing 2ndgrade through 8thgrade (8U-14U) 2ndgrade (8U) Southern Minny (SML) 8/9U teams 3rdgrade (9U)--travel team is Tryout based. Planning to keep in SML but play at 10U level for more competitive rules. Southern Minny 8/9U teams available for those not on travel team. 4thgrade through 8thgrade (10U-14U). Metro Baseball League (MBL) AA travel teams are Tryout based. MBL A travel team if numbers/interest (12A). Southern Minny teams for those not rostered on MBL teams. SML teams are not Tryout based.
Equipment Hat provided by BYBA Jersey provided new each year for Rookies through 10U. Also, to those at older age groups who are new to Byron baseball (1styear playing above 10U) Starting with 11U and on, players use white jersey provided at 10U level. May purchase replacement jersey as needed For MBL teams, an alternate color jersey will be provided as part of MBL upcharge.
Equipment Players responsible to provide own: white pants with black piping, black belt, black socks, non-metal spikes and black helmet Players will also be responsible to provide own baseball glove, approved bat, and athletic supporter with cup. Additional expenses parents may incur for hotel/gas should be expected from traveling to and from games or playing in tournaments.
Coaches Volunteer parent based Can t have enough at the younger levels Rookies and 8/9U Travel teams MBL AA head coach continuity through the youth program.
Umpires Paid on per game basis Youth umpires eligible to sign up 6thgrade through 12thgrade Umpire clinic to be scheduled before the start of the season
Other registration options Spring Training March 29-30, 2025 coordinated with Coach Bale and High School players. Sign up times based on age K-6thgrade Swing Club. Track swings April 1 through July 1. Has cost to participate. Complete the 4000 swing challenge to receive an award.
