Pre-Season Checklist
 
Your team should be paid in full
Login into DaySmart and check roster for payment
Send emails to players who have not paid
Each player is responsible for an individual registration fee
Your DaySmart roster should be complete and accurate
Drop any players who are not playing this season
Teams will be allowed to add players until 5/20
Must have a DaySmart account to be added
Some Players still need a team, especially MKP.
 
Game Scheduling
 
Conflicts Closes Today
We make our best effort to accommodate conflicts submitted into Coaches Tools.
Teams should plan on minimum of 2 games per week.
Games times start 8:00 AM Saturdays, Noon Sundays, 6:00 PM Mon-Thurs
T-Ball games at Preston Meadow Park
Coach Pitch games at Cheyenne Park
MKP games at Schell 1
We may play over Memorial Day weekend. (Weather will control this)
We will play the Saturday of Mother’s Day, but not on the holiday
 
Game Scheduling
 
Game cancellation info due to weather on psaplano.org, Cancellation Tab
Games cancelled to due to weather will be quickly rescheduled to the next
available game slot.  Game reschedules may fall on a conflict date or Sunday AM.
If you cannot field team, please notify baseball@psaplano.org, 48 hours in
advance.  Teams who “No Show” may be subject to $75 fee and forfeit loss of 0-7
Game Swap procedures are available to avoid forfeits.
 
Baseball Game Day Reminders
 
ALL Coaches must have a Valid PSA Coaches Badge (Includes all Adults who
will be on the field or in the Dugout). Must be visible at all times.
ALL Coaches and players must be listed on the DaySmart roster.
Badges are available at PSA1 Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.  Thurs until 6pm.
 
Baseball Game Day Reminders
 
Games start on-time.  Umpires have final decision on field conditions to play
Always be prepared to start up to 15 minutes early.
Fair Play Rules.  All Players Bat, No player can sit consecutive innings
Game Rules are on PSA website and ALL coaches MUST be familiar with rules
prior to the first game
On Game Days
No Infield Batting Practice / No infield / No batting sticks
Warm-up hitting restricted flight balls only
No batboys/batgirls
No pinch-runners, except Pitcher/Catcher/Injury

PSA will provide every team with 12 game balls. Each team is
responsible for bringing two game ready balls to every game.

Molded rubber cleats or tennis shoes only Pre-K thru 6

Metal cleats 7

 grade and up
Matching jerseys with numbers are the back
Catcher's gear required for Modified T-Ball and Up
Protected cups must be worn
Throat protector must be worn on the mask
We have signed out most of PSA catcher’s gear.
Play It Again Sports and Ebay are great sources.
Facebook Marketplace as well.
We do not have Tees available.
Many were issued last summer, and few were returned.
Coaches are not expected to make out of pocket purchases.  It is normal to
collect money from parents for shared team expenses.

Guest Players must be registered with PSA Baseball in DaySmart
Players can play up but are not eligible to play down.
Arm Sleeves are permitted for pitchers
Arm Sleeves cannot be white or have white on them
Umpires’ discretion as to whether an arm sleeve would be distracting
to the batter

PSA Kid Pitch Rules RULE IX Pg 18
We are transitioning to pitch counts instead of innings pitched
The Pitching Certificate will be updated by the end of the week to reflect the changes.
Pitching Certificate can be found on the Rules Page
Visiting Team is the Official Pitch Count Recorder
Both teams are responsible for tracking their own pitch counts
High School still has no limit, but there is a recommended limit of 125 pitches per week
Official Recorder should report the number of pitches whenever requested and let the plate
umpire know when a player reaches the limit.
If a pitcher reaches a threshold during an at bat, he/she can complete that at bat without
penalty.  The days of rest requirement will not be extended due to that at bat.
There is a daily max as well as a (weekly) 7-day max.
No more than 2 consecutive days pitching no matter the number of pitches.
Post Season Pitching limits will still apply, but the consecutive day rule will be suspended.

the handling of pitchers with regard to rest periods. Adherence to this
chart is recommended to prevent injury to pitcher’s arms.

Baseball Weather Policy
 
The City of Plano owns the fields and makes the final decision on
field playability.
Cancellations and postponements are communicated through the
www.psaplano.org
 website on the “Cancellations” tab.
DO NOT CALL OR EMAIL ASKING.  WE WILL NOT RESPOND!
All Staff, Parents, Coaches and Officials should use My Lightning
Tracker App (6 mile radius)
At the Field, the umpire has the final say on safe playing conditions.
Significant standing water on a field will result in a game
postponement
We try to reschedule games within 7-12 days from the
cancellation/rainout

Sportsmanship
 
 
Know the PSA rules
Coaches must be familiar with the Code of Conduct Rules
As the coach, YOU set the tone for the parents and the players
Remind parents they are role models for their children
Treat players and coaches with the same respect you would
want for your own child and yourself
Never yell at or touch an umpire before, during, or after a
game
Please use the evaluation tool in Coaches Tool

George Taggart is the Umpire in Charge and Assignor for PSA’s Fall 2023 Baseball
season
ZERO TOLERANCE FOR HASSASSMENT OF UMPIRES
Coaches are responsible for the fans, assistant coaches, and the players!
Yelling and Screaming will not be tolerated.
No Arguing Balls/Strikes
Respect all calls.  If you have an appeal, conduct it in a proper manner
Umpires will issue one warning to a coach for any Conduct Violation

 time will be automatic ejection.
Ejection is an automatic 1 game suspension but could be more upon review by the
Baseball Board.
If the behavior continues, the umpire will forfeit the game

 Ejection could result in a permanent ban from ALL PSA Activities
Umpire shortages around the country!
