Student Supports: Sullivan Middle School has a cohesive, comprehensive Social Emotional/Student Support Team that is here to assist your student with academic needs, social emotional well-being, and community supports. Each team has a guidance counselor and school adjustment counselor assigned to them and we have a Wraparound coordinator available to all students who are a part of the SMS community.
Guidance Counselors: Guidance Counselors help students achieve academic and future goals. Together, they will explore your student s interests and create an academic plan that aligns with your vision of the future and all that you want to accomplish! Here are some things we will do with your student: Work with students, teachers, parents, and the community to support you. Teach study and organizational skills. Help identify and overcome obstacles to help students succeed in the classroom.
School Adjustment Counselors Each team has a school adjustment counselor who will work with your student on their social and emotional well-being. They work with teachers, staff, students, and families to ensure that your student has the skills needed to navigate their middle school career, which can be overwhelming at times. They offer lunch bunch groups, student supports, mental health referrals, psycho-social education, and much more!
Wraparound Support The Wraparound Coordinator works with staff, students, and families to identify areas of need and provide appropriate interventions to address academic and non academic barriers to learning. Through collaboration with community organizations, the Wraparound Coordinator will work with you to support wellness across four domains including academics, college/career, family community and health/wellness. Here are some supports that we help connect students and families to: - Work with families to make food pantry, financial and housing referrals. - Help connect students to academic supports and after school programs.
