Viera High School offers a comprehensive CTE program in Web Application Development and Programming, taught by Mr. Dohmen. Students learn popular programming languages like Python, SQL, JavaScript, Java, C#, and C. The courses cover web programming, JavaScripting, and PHP programming, providing certifications in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and PHP. Students gain skills in client-side and server-side programming, preparing them to become Full-Stack programmers. Courses taught in this CTE program Web Programming (HTML5, CSS3, JS) 1. JavaScripting Programming 2. PHP Programming (SQL and PHP) 3.
Web Programming Covers basic HTML5 and CSS3 web design concepts. Students who take this course have the opportunity to obtain two certifications. MTA 98-375: HTML5 Application Development Fundamentals MTA 98-383: Intro to Programming using HTML and CSS Students are also introduced to JavaScript at the end of this course. JavaScripting Covers procedural programming concepts using JavaScript Students who take this course have the opportunity to get certified in JavaScript by taking the MTA 98-382 Intro to Programming using JavaScript certification test Students will be pushed beyond the scope of the class. Namely how to use AJAX to read from a file. How to dynamically add content or remove content from a web page based on the contents of a file
PHP Programming Prerequisite: Either Web Programming or JavaScript In this course all Client Side concepts learned in the previous 2 courses will be shifted to Server Side programming using PHP. Students will also learn how to interact with a database using MySQL. Students will have the opportunity to become certified in Database Design via the DB certification test and certified in PHP via Knowledge Pillars testing platform.
By the end of Web Application Development and Programming program, students will be well versed in 4 of the most popular programming languages (HTML, CSS, JS, SQL) and have the foundation of becoming a Full Stacked programmer. (Having the ability to program on the client side and server side) Python and Java can be obtained via my AP Comp Sci Principles and AP Comp Sci A classes
