  1. Foundations Week 4 Incarnation: Jesus Christ

  2. State of Theology Survey Jesus is truly God and has a divine nature, and Jesus is truly human and has a human nature.

  3. State of Theology Survey Jesus is the first and greatest being created by God.

  4. Person of Christ Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man in one person, and will be so forever.

  5. Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit.

  6. Matthew 1:20 Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit

  7. Matthew 1:24-25 Joseph did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took his wife, but knew her not until she had borne a son; and he called his name Jesus

  8. Luke 1:35 The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore, the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God

  9. Luke 2:40 The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon Him.

  10. Luke 2:52 Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and man.

  11. John 4:6 so Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, was sitting beside the well."

  12. Luke 24:39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; handle me, and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones as you see that I have.

  13. Hebrews 5:8 He learned obedience through what he suffered.

  14. Mark 13:32 But of that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father

  15. John 12:27 Now is my soul troubled.

  16. John 13:21 When Jesus had thus spoken, He was troubled in his spirit.

  17. Matthew 26:38 My soul is very sorrowful, even to death.

  18. Hebrews 5:7 Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard or his godly fear.

  19. Hebrews 4:15 Jesus is one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

  20. Hebrews 7:26 We have a high priest, holy, blameless, unstained, separated from sinners, exalted above the heavens.

  21. Hebrews 2:18 Because he himself has suffered and been tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.

  22. Hebrews 4:15-16 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in our time of need.

  23. Romans 5:18-19 Then as one man s trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one man s act of righteousness leads to acquittal and life for all men. For as by one man s disobedience many were made sinners, so by one man s obedience many will be made righteous.

  24. Hebrews 2:16-17 For surely it is not with angels that he is concerned but with the descendants of Abraham. Therefore, he had to be made like his brethren in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

  25. Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

  26. John of Damascus For the whole Christ assumed the whole me that he might grant salvation to the whole me.

  27. Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God

  28. Revelation 1:8 I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.

  29. Revelation 22:12-13 Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

  30. Hebrews 1:3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.

  31. Colossians 1:19 In Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell.

  32. Colossians 2:9 In Him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily.

  33. John 2:19 Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

  34. John 2:21-22 He was not speaking of the temple made of stones in Jerusalem, but he spoke of the temple of his body. When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had spoken.

  35. Hebrews 7:16 has become a high priest, not according to a legal requirement concerning bodily descent, but by the power of an indestructible life.

  36. Isaiah 48:9-11 For my name s sake I defer my anger, for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, that I may not cut you off. Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction. For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it, for how should my name be profaned? My glory I will not give to another.

  37. Philippians 2:9-11 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed upon him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

  38. Hebrews 1:6 When He brings the firstborn into the world, he says, Let all God s angels worship Him.

  39. 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men s trespasses against them.

  40. Latent existing, but not yet manifest; hidden; concealed.

  41. Acts 10:37-39 You know what has happened throughout the province of Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

  42. Acts 2:22 Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst

  43. Luke 5:17 On one of those days, as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with him to heal.

  44. Matthew 12:28 But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the Kingdom of God has come upon you.

  45. Hebrews 2:17 For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.
