BEYOND THE GRAVE: BUT PETER Luke 24:1-12
LUKE 24:1 What tomb? See Matt. 27:57ff
LUKE 24:2-8 Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Matt. 28:7-9
LUKE 24:9-12 they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. But Peter And John See John 20:2-4
BUT PETER GOT UP AND RAN If that tomb is empty, it changes EVERYTHING Peter had often dropped the ball, typically seeing through earthly eyes. He denied even knowing Jesus And that tomb IS empty, for He has risen! (1 Cor. 15:1-8)
Peter had run FROM Jesus (Mark 14:50), but now he is running TO Him. Forgiveness? A fresh start? Full restoration? Hope eternal? ABSOLUTELY! And all because of Jesus
The news of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ no doubt brought mixed reviews. Judas who rejected mercy and grace would not have been a fan. I mean, think about it: his Judge just got back up Still today, reviews are mixed.
ACTS 17:30-31 In the past, God overlooked such ignorance, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent. For He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice by the man He has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.
MATT. 25:31-46 When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all of the angels with Him, He will sit on His throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will gather before Him, and He will separate the people one from another (The unrighteous) will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.
REV. 20:11-15 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from His presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the Throne each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
News of the Resurrection: The most dreadful news of all for those who refuse His mercy and grace Yet at the same time, Incredibly great news for those who HAVE trusted in Christ for salvation. Such great hope for those who WILL trust in Him.
He is Risen!! He is Risen indeed!!
