COLOSSIANS 1:15-17 KJV 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist 2

  3. INTRODUCTION The Bible is all about Jesus Christ the Messiah, the Savior! Paul the apostle who was hand picked and commission by Jesus Himself, focuses on Jesus in this text of scripture the central THEME of the Bible! THEME defined by Meriam Webster online 1 a: a subject or topic of discourse or of artistic representation - guilt and punishment is the theme of the story b: a specific and distinctive quality, characteristic, or concern - the campaign has lacked a theme 2: a melodic subject of a musical composition or movement 3: a written exercise : composition - a research theme 3

HEBREWS 2:1-3 KJV 1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. 2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him 5

INTRODUCTION If we fail to heed the warnings of the writer, then we will drift away Hebrews 2:1 The writer admonishes Christians to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard lest at any time we should let them slip KJV lest haply we drift away from them ASV lest we drift away NKJV so that we do not drifty away from it NAS95 If we heed the message of great salvation we will see the GREAT reward from our GREAT God and His Son who made the GREATEST sacrifice! Col. 1:16 He is the One written about in the Law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms Luke 24:44 Jesus, the Savior of the world, is the central THEME of the Bible! BUT HOW SO? 8

This is the main message of the Old Testament This began immediately after the first recorded sin in the Bible Gen. 3:15 Jesus, the Seed of woman, would enter the world and serve as the One through whom all nations of the earth shall be blessed as God promised Abraham, Isaac and Jacob Gen. 22:18; cf. 12:3; 26:4; 28:14 Moses later identified this One Duet. 18:15; Acts 3:22-25 He would come through the royal lineage of King David and establish the throne of His kingdom forever 2 Sam. 7:12-13 He would suffer as God s Servant taking away man s sins, serving as an offering for sin Isa. 53:1o-13 The Old Testament is filled with the foretelling of Jesus Christ coming into the world! 9

The message of the New Testament focuses on the fact that the Christ came to save sinners Matthew s gospel began with The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham Matt. 1:1 The events around His birth, childhood fulfilled the prophecies of the Old Testament Matt. 1:21-23, cf., Isa. 7:14 Jesus, Emmanuel, born of a virgin Matt. 2:15, cf., Hos. 11:2 my Son called out of Egypt Matt. 2:16-18, cf., Jer. 31:15 Rachel weeping for her children Matt. 2:23 May have reference to Isa. 11:1 1 0

  13. The Savior WILL Come AGAIN! The New Testament declares that Christ will come AGAIN to judge the world Acts 17:30-31 The Hebrew writer declared this day and to those who eagerly wait for Him, He will appear a second time, for salvation Heb. 9:27-28 After He ascended to heaven, it was announced that He would come a second time Acts 1:10-11 This second coming will bring eternal joy to the saved and endless sorrow to guilty sinners 2 Thess. 1:7-10 Paul points out what will occur when Jesus comes at the end of time 1 Cor. 15:24-26 The New Testament continually points to the victorious second coming of the Savior and the end of this world! 1 3

  14. Jesus Christ, the great Lamb of God, is truly the THEME of the Bible! CONCLUSION The message of inspired scripture, from the beginning to end, may be stated as follows The Savior IS Coming! The Savior HAS Come! The Savior WILL Come AGAIN! Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing Rev. 5:12 1 4
