JESUS, KING OF GLORY & JESUS, KING OF KINGS Pastor Mike Brubaker
Introduction - Mark 16:1-7 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus body.2Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb3and they asked each other, Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb? 4But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.5As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.
Introduction - Mark 16:1-7 6 Don t be alarmed, he said. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.7But go, tell his disciples and Peter, He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you. Pastor: Christ Is Risen! Church: Christ Is Risen, Indeed! Mark 16:1-7
Introduction The cross & death of Christ had to come first. (Mk. 15:32-39 & Jn. 19:19-22) 32Let this Messiah, this king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe. Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him. - Mk 15:32 37With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last. 38The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.39And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he died, he said, Surely this man was the Son of God! - Mk 15:37-39 The cross & death of Christ led to the resurrection of Jesus Christ!
Message in a Sentence: As I truly experience the death & resurrection of Jesus, then I will experience Jesus as my King!
Two victorious titles of Jesus Christ The first victorious title is Jesus: King of Glory! (Psalm 24:8-10) 8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 10 Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty he is the King of glory.
