  1. PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT EVENT REFRESHED STRETFORD MASTERPLAN WELCOME Joanne Hyde Corporate Director, Transformation & Resources, Trafford Council

Context The Physical Activity Challenge Only 62.5% of adults aged 40-79 in Trafford take enough physical activity to protect their health In Trafford, 33% of Year 6 children and 60% of adults are overweight or obese Trafford Council has agreed a 30m investment in leisure centres across Trafford, including the proposed new Stretford leisure centre The Strategy - By 2031 every resident in Trafford will be active for at least 30 minutes each week

  3. Stretford Leisure Centre Key proposals: A new state-of-the-art Leisure Centre as part of the Campus Quarter, Talbot Rd This would replace the existing leisure centre and provide a larger and significantly improved facility The facility would be owned by Trafford Council and managed by Trafford Leisure, as it is currently Local residents would have the same access to the new centre as they do now

  4. Turn Moss Key proposals: Lease land that is currently unusable for much of year due to flooding, to create three grass pitches for Salford City FC training purposes. This area would be fenced off with a 1m high fence Replace and refurbish existing facilities to provide Salford City FC space, a community caf , a children s play area, and a perimeter trim trail The creation of a new artificial grass 4G pitch which would be managed by Trafford Leisure and available for all to hire The artificial grass pitch would be fenced off with a 2.4m high fence normal practice for this type of facility

Feedback so far Leisure Centre needs to accommodate both public and students Request for all current activities/classes at the Leisure Centre to be carried over to new centre Concerns around parking and bus, cycling, walking routes to new centre Request for sports hall to be big enough for several courts Concerns about loss of green space at Turn Moss and access across the site Request for wheelchair friendly facilities at Turn Moss and indoor facilities for the disabled at the Leisure Centre Current access road to Turn Moss too narrow and not suitable

  6. Format Two Discussion Sessions Discussion on the proposed relocation of Stretford Leisure Centre and the facilities you would like to see provided Discussion on plans for Turn Moss access, facilities, Salford City FC /UA92 use and community use

  7. Myths The new Leisure Centre will only be partially available to the public Most of Turn Moss will be used exclusively by Salford City FC and/or Turn Moss will be sold off to Salford City FC Much of the detail will come from these sessions, the survey and other ways to feedback.
