The Muscular System: Functions & Importance

By Dom and Celina

Muscles are a special type of tissue in the
human body that have the ability to move
all the different bones, but muscles can
only pull.

Another thing that makes muscles move are
joints.

Without joints, movement in our body would
be impossible.

The muscular system’s main function is
movement in body parts, circulation,
posture and help in digestion.

If our muscular system didn’t do it’s job, our
lungs wouldn’t work (because the lungs
are controlled by the diaphragm which is
a type of muscle), movement in our body
would be impossible and we wouldn’t be
able to digest the food we eat (because
some parts of the digestive system need
muscles to work like the oesophagus).

Healthy food (with lots of nutrients) help our
muscular system by giving our muscles
the energy to grow bigger and bigger as
you
grow.

Digestive System:
The muscular system helps the digestive
system by controlling the oesophagus,
small intestine, large intestine, rectum and
the anus.
Respiratory System:
The muscular system helps the respiratory
system by controlling the diaphragm to
make space for the air that gets directed
into our lungs.

Skeletal System:
The muscular system helps the
skeletal system by protecting and
moving the bones in our body so we
can have movement.
Circulatory System:
The muscular system helps the
circulatory system by letting blood
rush through the blood vessels.

Muscles are essential for movement, posture, circulation, and digestion in the human body. Without a properly functioning muscular system, vital processes like breathing and food digestion would be compromised. Maintaining muscle health through exercise and a nutritious diet is crucial to ensure optimal functioning of the muscular system. Additionally, the muscular system interacts with other body systems such as the skeletal, digestive, and respiratory systems to support overall bodily functions.

  1. THE MUSCULAR SYSTEM By Dom and Celina

  2. WHAT ARE MUSCLES? Muscles are a special type of tissue in the human body that have the ability to move all the different bones, but muscles can only pull. Another thing that makes muscles move are joints. Without joints, movement in our body would be impossible.

  3. WHAT IS THE MAIN FUNCTION OF THE MUSCULAR SYSTEM? The muscular system s main function is movement in body parts, circulation, posture and help in digestion.

  4. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF OUR MUSCULAR SYSTEM DIDN T DO IT S JOB? If our muscular system didn t do it s job, our lungs wouldn t work (because the lungs are controlled by the diaphragm which is a type of muscle), movement in our body would be impossible and we wouldn t be able to digest the food we eat (because some parts of the digestive system need muscles to work like the oesophagus).

  5. WHAT DO HUMANS NEED TO DO TO KEEP OUR MUSCULAR SYSTEM FUNCTIONING PROPERLY? To keep our muscular system functioning properly, we need to exercise and eat healthy foods with nutrients (and NO additives) to keep our muscles growing properly and at the right pace.

  6. HOW DOES HEALTHY FOOD HELP KEEP OUR MUSCULAR SYSTEM FUNCTIONING PROPERLY? Healthy food (with lots of nutrients) help our muscular system by giving our muscles the energy to grow bigger and bigger as you grow.

  7. HOW DOES THE MUSCULAR SYSTEM HELP OTHER BODY SYSTEMS? Digestive System: The muscular system helps the digestive system by controlling the oesophagus, small intestine, large intestine, rectum and the anus. Respiratory System: The muscular system helps the respiratory system by controlling the diaphragm to make space for the air that gets directed into our lungs.

  8. HOW DOES THE MUSCULAR SYSTEM HELP OTHER BODY SYSTEMS? Skeletal System: The muscular system helps the skeletal system by protecting and moving the bones in our body so we can have movement. Circulatory System: The muscular system helps the circulatory system by letting blood rush through the blood vessels.

  9. WHAT WEBSITES DID WE USE? We used the following websites: Dictionary.com Kids Biology Healthy Muscles We have gotten lots of the information from these links to put in our presentation for the muscular system!

  10. THE END We hope you all liked our presentation because we worked REALLY hard on our presentation including the information in our work!
