1. BE READY TO SUFFER TRAILS 1 Peter 4:12-13

2. 12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy 1 PETER 4:12-13, NKJV 2

3. What are we to do when trails come? Trials will come in different ways James 1:2; 1 Peter 1:6 Especially when we live Godly 2 Tim. 3:12 Peter teaches how to be ready for the distress of trials when they come! INTRODUCTION 3

4. IN CHRIST! GAL. 3:26-29; EPH. 1:3 Addressed to Saints Peter writes to Christians ( beloved ) Strangers 1 Pet. 1:1; 2:11; cf. Heb. 11:8-10 The elect of God 1 Pet. 1:2; 2 Pet. 1:1-4 Those begotten by a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ v. 3 Promised an eternal pure inheritance v. 4 Preserved by faith in Christ unto salvation that will be revealed in this age v. 5 Those suffering various trials because of their faith in Christ v. 6 4

5. OTHERS ARE TRIED AS YOU ARE! Be Ready To Suffer Never think only you are being tried and your suffering is unique to you Other brethren are facing trials too 1 Pet. 4:12; 5:8, 9 Trials can be fiery (severe trials) Satan, the Christians adversary, wants to isolate us, but others faced these similar trials so we can as well Heb. 11:36-40 5

6. REJOICE TO SUFFER FOR CHRIST! Be Ready To Suffer We are to count it joy to partake in suffering for the cause of Christ 1 Pet. 4:12-13; cf. Acts 5:41 Jesus suffered trails and He comes to the aid of those who suffer and put their faith in Him Heb. 2:18; 4:15-16 Rejoice in Christ and follow in His steps 1 Pet. 2:21 6

DONT BE ASHAMED OF CHRIST Be Ready To Suffer Never be ashamed of being a Christian or of the gospel of Christ 1 Pet. 4:15-18 Rom. 1:16-17 Remain faithful through the trials you face for wearing His name Luke 9:26 Accept sufferings for the things that glorify God, and you will be judged faithful for your obedience to Christ Rom. 8:16-18; Heb. 11:13-16 7

8. COMMIT YOUR LIFE TO GOD! Be Ready To Suffer Deposit your soul for safekeeping to God 1 Pet. 4:19 Accept the temporary grief trials bring and keep doing God s will 1 Pet. 2:19-23 Trials will purify your faith and are a time to look toward your heavenly reward 1 Pet. 1:6-9; 2 Tim 4:6-8 8

9. COMMIT YOUR LIFE TO GOD! Be Ready To Suffer Faith in Christ overcomes the trials and heartaches of this world 1 Pet. 5:4 Trust God s promise that He will never leave you or forsake you Heb. 13:5-6 He will right every wrong and reward your faith with eternal life Acts 17:31 Rom. 2:1-11 9

10. READY TO SUFFER 1. Ready to suffer grief or pain, Ready to stand the test; Ready to stay at home and send, Others if He sees best. 2. Ready to go, ready to bear, Ready to watch and pray; Ready to stand aside and give, Till He shall clear the way. 3. Ready to speak, ready to think, Ready with heart and mind; Ready to stand where He sees fit, Ready His will to find. 4. Ready to speak, ready to warn, Ready o er souls to yearn; Ready in life or ready in death, Ready for His return. Chorus: Ready to go, ready to stay, Ready my place to fill; Ready for service lowly or great, Ready to do His will. 10

11. Dont think your trials are unique to you 1 Pet. 4:12 Be Ready To Suffer Rejoice to partake of Christ s sufferings 1 Pet. 4:13-14 Don t be ashamed of being a Christian 1 Pet. 4:15-18 Commit your life to God 1 Pet. 4:19 REVIEW & CONCLUSION 11
