Long term impact of homelessness results in apathy, erosion of the will, and self neglect (habituation/shelterization) Daily struggles and difficulty meeting basic needs CIRCUMSTANCES THAT AFFECT ENGAGEMENT Lack of social safety net, resources and appear isolated Sense of hopelessness, histories of trauma and instability Complex issues and multiple diagnoses Survival mode System failures and difficulty negotiating services that help exit situation Disorganized lifestyles Limited education and life skills Limited judgment and insight
