  4. THE NORTH PLACE BEGAN IN 2017 WITH A BOND ISSUE TO REDO SPACE WITHIN OUR SCHOOL. APPROXIMATELY 1300 SQUARE FEET OF RETAIL SPACE OPEN 1 HOUR IN BEFORE SCHOOL (OUR 0 HOUR) 2 WORKERS EVERY DAY IT IS THEIR CLASS OPEN FOR BOTH OUR LUNCHES EACH DAY FOR 1 HOUR EACH 7 PER DAY -STUDENTS ARE ON A ROTATION BUT ALL STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IT S 40% OF THEIR GRADE THERE IS A MANAGER EVERY DAY WE HAVE 5 OF THEM FOR 1 DAY EACH WEEK THEY ARE ALSO RETAIL OFFICERS

  7. HOW DO I GET STUDENTS TO WORK? THIS IS THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION!!!! OUR STORES ARE A CONTINUATION OF OUR CLASS COVERED DURING OUR 1ST2 DAYS OF SCHOOL CLASS ORIENTATION EACH STUDENT WORKS ON A ROTATION BASIS WHICH ENDS UP ABOUT ONCE EVERY 2 TO 3 WEEKS FOR UPPERCLASSMEN AND ONCE A WEEK FOR FRESHMEN IT TAKES 7 STUDENTS A DAY ASSIGNED TO WORK OUR 2 STORES WE HAVE 5 DIFFERENT RETAIL OFFICERS WHICH ARE ROTATED THE MANAGERS EVERY DAY

DECA DOUGH COMPANY THIS COMPANY SELLS OTIS SPUNKMEYER COOKIES 2 DAYS A WEEK OUT OF MY CLASSROOM WE SELL A BAG OF 3 COOKIES FOR $2 PER BAG WE ALSO SELL BROWNIES FOR $2 EACH WE SELL DRINKS RANGING FROM $1 EACH TO $3 EACH WE ALSO PREPARE APPROXIMATELY 120 BAGS OF COOKIES PER DAY TO SELL IN OUR STORES

HOW ITS ORGANIZED ALL STUDENTS SIGN UP ON A SHEET WHICH ASSIGNS THEM A LETTER EACH COOKIE DAY, THE LETTERS ROTATE TO ONE OF 3 AREAS OF OUR COOKIE OPERATIONS TRAYS PACKAGING SALES THERE IS ALSO A MANAGER WHICH LOGS OUT MONEY, COOKIES AND DRINKSTO THE SALES TEAMS THE MANAGER ALSO LOGS IN REMAINING ITEMS AT THE END OF THE SALESSHIFT AND CHECKS FOR BALANCING OF $$ I BROUGHT THESE IN A SEPARATE PACKAGE FOR YOU TO GRAB IF YOU WANT ONE

  11. ORDERING AND MAINTAINING STOCK COOKIES, BROWNIES, BAGS AND GLOVES COME FROM BEN E. KEITHIN OKLAHOMA CITY COOKIE BAGS FOR CHOCOLATE CHIP ARE FROM ARYTZA DRINKS & CLEANING SUPPLIES COME FROM SAM S CLUB DISPLAY REFRIGERATORS ARE USED AS WELL

  12. STORAGE OF COOKIES WE BOUGHT THE LARGEST CHEST FREEZER WE COULD FIND TO STORE 22 COOKIE BOXES AT A TIME THE UPRIGHT FREEZER HOLDS 75 TRAYS OF 12 COOKIES PER TRAY 900 COOKIES OUR 6 OVENS CAN COOK 216 COOKIES EVERY 20 MINUTES

SALES MANAGER TRACKS WHAT GOES OUT THE DOOR AND WHAT COMES BACK IN THE DOOR ATTHE END OF THE HOUR MANAGES SALES INSIDE THE CLASSROOM USES AN EXCEL SPREADSHEET TO TRACK SALES PEOPLE S NAMES COOKIES AND DRINKS GOING OUT BEGINNING AND ENDING CASH END OF THE HOUR BALANCING FOR BOTH SALES TEAMS THAT WERE OUT SELLING PROBLEM SOLVING IN CASE THERE IS A DISCREPANCY WITH CASH BALANCES THIS POSITION ALSO ROTATES EVERY SALES DAY SO ALL CAN LEARN FROMDOING

  25. FINAL WORDS IT IS A TON OF WORK FOR BOTH ME AND MY STUDENTS AND YES, I HAVE TO PUSH MY STUDENTS REALLY HARD BUT .. THEY LEARN VERY VALUABLE SKILLS 2 STUDENTS HAVE ALREADY STARTED THEIR OWN SHIRT BUSINESS NUMEROUS STUDENTS HAVE GOTTEN JOBS IN THE HOSPITALITY FIELD DUE TO THEIR EXPERIENCE IN DECA 3 OF THESE SBE S ARE CURRENT DECA COMPETITIVE EVENT ENTRIES OUR DECA PROGRAM RECEIVES NO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM OUR SCHOOL WE ARE SELF SUPPORTIVE WE SUPPORT THE FOLLOWING ORGANIZATIONS AT OUR SCHOOL AND DISTRICT NORMAN NORTH SPECIAL OLYMPICS NORMAN NORTH SPUD (SCHOOL WIDE FUNDRAISING EVENT EVERY JANUARY) NORMAN NORTH FCCLA & TSA ORGANIZATIONS NPS ATHLETICS
