MAGNET PROGRAM THE MAGNET PROGRAM HAS BEEN AN IMPORTANT PART OF OUR CURRICULUM AT NORTH SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL SINCE 1989 AND HAS ATTRACTED MANY OUTSTANDING STUDENTS TO SPARTA. YOUR STUDENT WILL BE AMONG THE MANY TALENTED SPARTANS LEARNING, GROWING, AND CONTRIBUTING TO THIS LEGACY.

PROGRAM OFFERINGS NORTH SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL IS THE ONLY DUAL MAGNET PROGRAM IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA. MATH & SCIENCE (M/S)- RISING 9TH GRADERS ENTERING THE MATH/SCIENCE OR DUAL MAGNET PROGRAM WITH ONLY PRE-ALG OR 8TH GRADE MATH MUST SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE ALGEBRA 1 OVER THE SUMMER PRIOR TO THE START OF THEIR 9TH GRADE YEAR IN ORDER TO BE ON TRACK WITH GEOMETRY IN THE 9TH GRADE. OR RISING 10TH GRADERS ENTERING IN THE M/S OR DUAL PROGRAM WHO ONLY TOOK ALGEBRA 1 OR HONORS ALGEBRA IN 9TH GRADE, WILL NEED TO TAKE GEOMETRY OVER THE SUMMER PRIOR TO THE START OF THEIR 10TH GRADE YEAR IN ORDER TO REMAIN ON TRACK.

ENROLLMENT BY THIS POINT IN THE ADMISSION PROCESS, YOU SHOULD HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED THE ENROLLMENT PROCESS AND SUBMITTED THE APPLICATION NUMBER TO OUR SCHOOL REGISTRAR, MRS. LORI BRYAN. IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE ENROLLMENT PROCESS, PLEASE DO SO AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. INSTRUCTIONS AND DETAILS WERE INCLUDED IN THE ACCEPTANCE LETTER. WE CANNOT CREATE YOUR STUDENTS SCHEDULE IF THEY HAVE NOT OFFICIALLY BEEN ENROLLED.
STUDENT SCHEDULES/COURSE REQUESTS IN ADDITION TO ENROLLING YOUR STUDENT, COURSE REQUESTS WERE DUE BY MARCH 10TH. IF YOU HAVE NOT SUBMITTED YOUR COURSE REQUESTS THROUGH THE MICROSOFT FORMS LINK (INCLUDED IN THE ACCEPTANCE EMAIL) BY WEDNESDAY 4/19/23, WE WILL HAVE TO CREATE A SCHEDULE BASED ON TRANSCRIPTS AND STUDENTS WILL NOT HAVE ANY CHOICE IN THEIR ELECTIVE OPTIONS. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU SUBMIT YOUR COURSE REQUEST THROUGH THE LINK IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE SO ALREADY.
TRANSPORTATION FULTON COUNTY WILL PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM NORTH SPRINGS IF YOU MEET THE FOLLOWING ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: - MUST HAVE A FCS HOME MAILING ADDRESS - MUST BE DUAL MAGNET - SOUTH FULTON RESIDENTS ONLY - NORTH FULTON RESIDENTS MAY BE SINGLE OR DUAL MAGNET - BUSES WILL PICK UP AND DROP OFF AT YOUR HOME HIGH SCHOOL
MAGNET EXPECTATIONS MAINTAIN AN 80 GPA (VPA) OR 85 GPA (M/S) OR HIGHER AND AN OVERALL CUMULATIVE 80 GPA. VPA MAGNET STUDENTS, MUST COMPLETE 8 VPA CREDITS, WITH 2 BEING THE HIGHEST LEVEL OR AP PLUS 2 EXTRACURRICULARS MATH/SCIENCE STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE ALL THE REQUIREMENTS LISTED IN PREVIOUS SLIDES PLUS 2 EXTRACURRICULARS MAINTAIN APPROPRIATE DISCIPLINE AND ATTENDANCE AS OUTLINED IN THE STUDENT HANDBOOK/CODE OF CONDUCT
PROBATION AND DISMISSAL FAILURE TO MAINTAIN THE REQUIRED GPA OR CONTINUOUSLY VIOLATING THE ATTENDANCE/DISCIPLINE* POLICIES WILL PLACE YOU ON PROGRAM PROBATION. IF INFRACTIONS CONTINUE BEYOND THE SET PROBATIONARY PERIOD, STUDENTS WILL BE DISMISSED FROM THE MAGNET PROGRAM AND MUST RETURN TO THEIR HOME HIGH SCHOOLS (IF NOT ZONED FOR NORTH SPRINGS). (*SEVERITY OF INFRACTION MAY BE CAUSE TO ESCALATE PROBATION OR DISMISSAL) PLEASE NOTE- A STUDENT MAY ONLY BE PLACED ON PROBATION ONCE IN THEIR TIME AT NS. ANY ADDITIONAL PROBATION CONCERNS WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL FROM THE PROGRAM.
TAG PROGRAM MANY MAGNET STUDENTS ARE ALSO INVOLVED IN OUR TAG PROGRAM. WHILE THEY ARE TWO SEPARATE PROGRAMS, STUDENTS MAY BE INVOLVED IN BOTH. SOME TAG INTERNSHIPS CAN ALSO COUNT FOR MAGNET ELECTIVE CREDIT. ONCE A STUDENT IS PART OF THE TAG PROGRAM, THAT CONTINUES WITH THEM THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL AS LONG AS THE ARE COMING FROM ANOTHER FCS SCHOOL IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN OUR TAG PROGRAM, PLEASE REACH OUT TO OUR TAG PROGRAM COORDINATOR, MRS. AVID PROGRAM NORTH SPRINGS HAS A VERY WELL ESTABLISHED AND THRIVING AVID PROGRAM FOR OUR STUDENTS WHO NEED A LITTLE EXTRA GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT AS THEY TRANSITION TO AND THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL.
