Test Administration Updates

CAASPP Summative Assessments Now Available The following CAASPP summative assessments are now available in the test delivery system: Smarter Balanced for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics CAST CAAs for ELA and mathematics CSA Every LEA has a unique testing window. CAASPP Directions for Administration and the CAASPP Online Test Administration Manual will be published this month. 11

CAASPP Test AdministratorTutorial The CAASPP Test Administrator Tutorial is now available on Moodle Training Site and on the CAASPP website. The tutorial will cover the administration information and procedures for the following assessments: Smarter Balanced for ELA and mathematics CAST CSA 12

Summative ELPAC and Summative Alternate ELPAC Coming Soon The Summative ELPAC and Summative Alternate ELPAC will be available to administer beginning February 1, 2024. ETS recommends completing the reclassification process by February 1 for those meeting all four criteria. 13

Second Scoring for Alternate Assessments Ensure that eligible students are in TOMS prior to beginning administration. Use the second-scoring lookup tools to determine whether your school is assigned to second-score for the CAA for ELA or the Alternate ELPAC. 14

TOMS Enhancements

TOMS Enhancements (1) Multiple enhancements have been released in TOMS. On January 23, 2024, from 2 to 3 p.m., ETS will hold a TOMS Enhancements Demonstration webinar to demonstrate the various updates to TOMS. Information is also available in the TOMS User Guide. 17

STAIRS Tips

STAIRS Tips (1) The CAASPP and ELPAC Security Incident and Appeals Procedures Guide has information on remapping Statewide Student Identifiers (SSIDs) and has been linked in the resource guide. Remapping refers to students who have completed all assessment parts and need to have their tests moved from a retired SSID to a new SSID. Reclassification and testing the Summative ELPAC or Summative Alternate Assessment Test assignment and individualized education program (IEP) changes Speaking scores and the Data Entry Interface (DEI) 19

Assign Student Test Settings Individually or using the Student Test Setting Template Student Demographic updates ELPAC English Language Acquisition Status (ELAS) Set primary language This will impact Student Score Reports at the end of the year. 21

Reminders

Prepare for the Assessment Administration (1) Evaluate student demographic data from TOMS to verify grade level, special education status, English learner status, home language, and date first entered into US schools. Complete your test assignments. This can be done individually or with a bulk upload. Remind site coordinators of their site testing window and their roles and responsibilities and provide sample test administration schedules. 23

Prepare for the Assessment Administration (2) Provide site coordinators with a preliminary student list for testing, test assignments, and student test settings. Collaborate with technology personnel to make sure all devices and systems are ready for testing. 24

Prepare for the Assessment Administration (3) Work with your California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System administration to resolve Multiple Identifiers (MIDs) cases and ensure all students have unique SSIDs. Refer to the accessibility resources linked in your resource guide: California Assessment Accessibility Resources Matrix California Student Assessment Accessibility graphics Submit requests for unlisted resources in TOMS at least 10 business days before the student s first day of testing. 25

Prepare for the Assessment Administration (4) Notify parents/guardians about upcoming Summative ELPAC and Summative Alternate ELPAC testing. Confirm site-level ELPAC trainings. Confirm that the site ELPAC coordinators have conducted the required site trainings for test examiners and proctors for the Summative ELPAC and Summative Alternate ELPAC. 26
