The pins function on the spinning
wheel is it can make wheel more
easier to stop.

5. There are 3D fonts on the spinning wheel. It gives pupils a chance
to feel the letters. So, pupils are more interested in learning
    today’s topic.
6. Pupils spin the wheel challenge and see where it lands on.
For example, when the arrow points to the frog, pupils need to
open the box of the frog.
Teacher can change
the white paper when
he or she wants to
teach other subject.
Teacher can change the
animals and words
when he or she wants
to teach other animals.

3. After the arrow lands on, pupils need to read the name of the animals
and spell. The teacher will correct the pronunciation if they misread. For
example, frog. Pupils need to spell the words. Then, pupils open the
paper on the word. (refer to picture 2)
4. There are Velcro tapes behind the animals and the words(refer to
picture 3). Teacher can take off the animals from the box. Then, pupils
manage to arrange pictures based on the animal’s name.

pupils
do the exercises and games in the box “Play It.” For

example, there
are
 activities of singing, crossword

puzzle, and
    others. (refer to picture 4)
6. These activities can not only help
pupils
 to improve their thinking

skill and also help to improve their listening skill, reading skill and

writing skill.
Pupils
can listen to the instruction
given by
 the teache
r,
read and understand the word (name of animals), and write the

  1. How to use Wheel Challenge Ivy Wong Sheue Wei G3.1

  2. This is my teaching aid-Wheel Challenge. I use this to teach Year 3 pupils. I choose a topic A Day At The Farm (Unit 4).

  3. Picture 1: match route Step 1 1. Teacher introduces the maze game to the pupils. 2. Pupils will match the mother with its young. For example, duck-duckling. 3. There are some animals pasted on the top of the ice-cream sticks. 4. Teacher will put the magnet under the ice-cream sticks. It will make it easy for pupils to move in the maze. (refer to picture 1)

  4. The pins function on the spinning wheel is it can make wheel more easier to stop. Step 2 1. Teacher will show the spinning wheel to the pupils. 2. Teacher reads the word and pupils follow. 3. Pupils need to recognize the words, read and spell the words on the spinning wheel.

  5. Teacher can change the animals and words when he or she wants to teach other animals. Teacher can change the white paper when he or she wants to teach other subject. 5. There are 3D fonts on the spinning wheel. It gives pupils a chance to feel the letters. So, pupils are more interested in learning today s topic. 6. Pupils spin the wheel challenge and see where it lands on. For example, when the arrow points to the frog, pupils need to open the box of the frog.

  6. Picture 2: Pupils take the paper on the words Step 3 1. This is the box with some activities for pupils to do as a enrichment activity. For example, puzzle, plasticine, read and write, fill in the blank and identify the animals. 2. Each box contains different animals compared to the pictures pasted on its top. Pupils must match it correctly. 3. Pupils must complete exercises given inside the box.

  7. 3. After the arrow lands on, pupils need to read the name of the animals and spell. The teacher will correct the pronunciation if they misread. For example, frog. Pupils need to spell the words. Then, pupils open the paper on the word. (refer to picture 2) 4. There are Velcro tapes behind the animals and the words(refer to picture 3). Teacher can take off the animals from the box. Then, pupils manage to arrange pictures based on the animal s name. Picture 3

  8. Picture 4 5. Next, pupils do the exercises and games in the box Play It. For example, there are activities of singing, crossword puzzle, and others. (refer to picture 4) 6. These activities can not only help pupils to improve their thinking skill and also help to improve their listening skill, reading skill and writing skill. Pupils can listen to the instruction given by the teacher, read and understand the word (name of animals), and write the sentences (punctuate the sentences).

  9. Step 4 1. This is an exercise in which pupils are asked to make stick puppets. 2. The materials like the animal templates, ice-cream sticks, coloured pencils, superglue and scissors are being put in a box. 3. Teacher guides the pupils to make the stick puppets. For example, pupils will first colour the animal templates. Then, pupils cut and paste the pictures on the top of the ice-cream sticks. 4. Teacher assists them to make the animals sounds while showing their stick puppets.

  10. Step 5 1. The above is the Magic Word Lock . Pupils will search for the vocabulary while twisting the word lock. For example, vocabulary like cat, frog, horse, hen, goat, cow, goose and duck can be searched. 2. The Magic Word Lock can be reused to teach other vocabulary as well.

  11. By using this material, it will help pupils with learning difficulties to learn with fun. Pupils can learn to recognize words, learn spellings, learn to punctuate the sentences, practice reading and writing. Lastly, teacher can achieve the learning objectives by using the teaching aid-Wheel Challenge as below. The Wheel Challenge can be separated into three parts which are the wheel spin, the maze and the boxes. It can also be used for other subject as it is multifunction.
