Why is The Bible Important? Jesus and the Word are One John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. The Natural Man Sees The Bible As Foolishness 1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. To Reject God s Word is to Reject Christ Himself and that is the spirit of Antichrist 1 John 4:3 and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Jesus Christ is The Word, The Word was with God and The Word was God
Why Study Bible Prophecy? Because throughout Scripture God reveals to us things that are going to happen.
Why Study Bible Prophecy? Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. - Isaiah 42:9
Why Study Bible Prophecy? You cannot study Scripture without studying prophecy * Every fourth verse in the Scripture deals with prophecy. * The coming of the Lord is a truth of such importance that it is mentioned 318 times in the 260 chapters of the NT (on an average of once every 25 verses). * The only subject mentioned more frequently than the second coming is the subject of salvation. * Paul mentioned the communion ordinance only twice in his 13 epistles and baptism only 13 times, but he mentions the return of our Lord 50 times!
Why Study Bible Prophecy? All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Why Study Bible Prophecy? Peter W. Stoner and Robert C. Newman wrote a book entitled Science Speaks. The book was based on the science of probability . It set out the odds of any one man in all of history fulfilling even only eight of the 60 major prophecies fulfilled by the life of Christ. The probability that Jesus of Nazareth could have fulfilled even eight such prophecies would be only 1 in 1017. That's 1 in 100, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000. To think of this in real time, cover the entire state of Texas with silver dollars two feet deep, but mark one RED. Then blind fold a person and let them walk anywhere they want in Texas, and then at their choosing bend down and on his first attempt pick up the silver dollar painted RED on his very first attempt. The odds of that happening is 1 in 100, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000.
Why Study Bible Prophecy? IF the prophecies regarding Christ are 100% correct, and we all know that they are, then what are the odds of future prophecy being correct also? If future prophecy is 100% correct like the prophecies of Jesus, shouldn t we have a good understanding of future prophecy so that when things do come about, we know what is going on and why?
Q & A Regarding Basic Bible Prophecy I am not sure where everyone's knowledge level is regarding the basics of bible prophecy. Before we continue, I want to take a few moments to answer basic bible prophecy questions. A very confusing Bible Prophecy Chart
Israel America & God s Judgment Discovering God s Biblical Template For Judging Nations
A Special Aknowledgement David Wilkerson - 6 week prior to 9-11 he halted all church activity and called his congregation to continued prayer. He felt that judgment was coming to this nation. On Sept 11 2001 judgment rained down upon our nation. On Oct 11 2001 David Wilkerson preached a sermon still many speak about today. It is believed that Pastor Wilkerson had been given a glimpse of what would soon become. Many claim that sermon to be the precise prophetic and relevant utterance in the history of the United States. His sermon was on Isaiah 9:8-11
A Special Aknowledgement Johnathan Cahn - in 2005 Johnathan Cahn delivered a message before his messianic congregation. In this sermon Rabbi Cahn describes the Eight Harbingers of Judgment experienced by Israel and their uncanny parallels to the events of September 11, 2001. It is from this set of sermons and studies which was born the bestselling book "The Harbingers which introduced us to what I call The Shemitah Effect.
What is The Shemitah? Is the sabbath year (shmita Hebrew: ,literally "release") also called the sabbatical year or sheviit (Hebrew: ,literally "seventh") The Shemitah is the seventh year of the seven-year agricultural cycle mandated by the God for the Land of Israel. Exodus 23:10-11And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof: 11 but the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard. It is God s promise to the earth that the earth will be allowed to rest.
What is The Shemitah? In the Bible, the people of Israel were commanded to let the land lie fallow every seven years. There would be no sowing and no reaping, and this is something that God took very seriously. It is the failure to observe these Sabbath years that was one of the main reasons cited in the Scriptures for why the Jewish people were exiled to Babylon in 586 BC. This is found in Ezekiel 23 where God had the prophet Ezekiel tell the people a parable of two sisters, Oholah and Oholibah. Oholah represented Samaria, the capitol of the Northern Kingdom. Oholibah represented Jerusalem, the capital of the Southern kingdom. He detailed the spiritual adultery of the two kingdoms and said that was the cause of the coming judgment.
What is The Shemitah? But there was more to the Shemitah year than just letting the land lie fallow. On the last day of the Shemitah year, the people of Israel were instructed to perform a releasing of debts. Deuteronomy 15 is the chapter that details what was to take place. Every creditor that has loaned anything to his neighbor shall relinquish it. He shall not exact it of his neighbor, or of his brother, because it is called the Lord s relinquishment. This happened at the end of every seven years on Elul 29 the last day of The Jewish year IF you did this, God promised blessings upon you and your home. If you refused, well you missed out on God s blessing.
What is The Shemitah? On September 17th, 2001 (which was Elul 29 on the Jewish calendar), we witnessed the greatest one day stock market crash in U.S. history up to that time. The Dow fell an astounding 684 points, and it was a record that held for precisely seven years until the end of the next Shemitah year. At the end of the next Shemitah year in 2008, another horrifying stock market crash took place. On September 29th, 2008 the Dow plummeted 777 points, which still today remains the greatest one day stock market crash of all time. It turns out that September 29th, 2008 corresponded with Elul 29 on the Jewish calendar The precise day when the Bible calls for a releasing of debts.
Going back in history that we have seen a Shemitah Effect take place in the US 1966 economic crash 23% market drop 1973 Oil Crash 48% market drop 1980 Great Recession - nationwide unemployment rate was 10.8% 1987 US Stockmarket Crash 33% market drop 1994 US Bond Market Crash more than $1 trillion in losses 2001 US Stock market crash 37% market drop coupled with 9-11 2008 US Market Crash (Black Monday) Sept 29 50% market drop 2015 ??? Market Crash? Cyclical and historical trends point to a good possibility.
Historical & Cyclical Trends Based on generational studies, our nation goes through a time of chaos every 100 years. This has been observed and documented in a Very good book by William Strauss and Neil Howe titled Generations: The History of America's Future, 1584 to 2069 From the war of the roses to present they have Shown that man s generational cycle is An average timeframe of four 20-25 years Periods.
In their book they speak of turning points or seasons. These four 20-25 year periods are Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Spring (the beginning) the generation renews and blooms. Where winter (the end) is a time of chaos , the generation stagnates and tends to self destruct. So what does this have to do with bible prophecy? Even though these men are NOT Christians, Their historical predictions have coincided A lot with scripture. They often quote that man forgets his past and often repeats his errors.
Many of us who study history and prophecy believe that we entered Our generational winter / time of chaos around 2005/2006. Cyclically speaking about 10 years into The Time of Chaos the generation reaches a "peak" where the chaos is at its highest. Ten years from 2005 is 2015, the believed peak of the current generation. Interestingly enough it also falls upon sabbatical year, The Shemitah. We have two historical cycles coming together. Is this bible prophecy? OR is the Shemitah God s template in how He judges nations. Is it both?
I want to remind you that America is NOT the center of the world. Where does scripture tell us is the center? But I do believe that God has a template that He uses to judge nations that claim To be for Him AKA Sheep Nations. I also believe that The Shemitah plays a part in that template.
And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. Matthew 24:12 Since September 11, 2001 America has entered the dark side and a Babylonian spirit of lawlessness has overtaken the country. Prior to 9/11, America was different. After 9/11, our nation changed A few days after the 9/11 attacks, Vice President Dick Cheney appeared on NBC's Meet the Press, where he said, "We also have to work, through, sort of the dark side, if you will."
Before and After 9/11 - America was generally at peace and seen by the world as "a shining city upon a hill". - Before 9/11 our nations still maintained freedoms and I believe God s Blessing. - After 9/11 things went down hill and Homeland Security was created. - The Patriot Act was passed which allowed - Law enforcement agencies' to gather intelligence on US Citizens within the United States - Treasury s authority to regulate financial transactions; - The Patriot act also expanded the definition of terrorism to include domestic terrorism, thus enlarging the number of people who can be called terrorist
Before and After 9/11 - The National Defense Authorization Act was passed, placing domestic terror investigations and interrogations into the hands of the military and which opened the door for trial-free, indefinite detention of anyone, including American citizens, so long as the government calls them terrorists. - The Constitution was trashed and Posse Comitatus was abandoned. - American citizens are now routinely surveilled by government agencies monitoring their voice and email communications. Is what is taking place in the US Bible Prophecy? OR Is this possibly God s Way of chastising a country that once stood for Him? Why does it seem that Christians are the ones targeted?
