HRFC Development Strategy The purpose of the HRFC Development Strategy is to outline key priorities for the management committee on behalf of club membership to progress the club to be the best we can be . The initial strategy was completed following consultation across the club membership in 2018 via an annual opinion survey and direct member consultation. The club management committee reviews progress against the in year actions with a summary provided at the AGM. A review at the end of the five year period 2018-2023 will be completed to allow a refresh of priorities in the plan. This document outlines the progress made each year and the current priorities for the management committee.

  3. HRFC Strategy - Timeline The 2021/22 season resumes with rugby as we know it. After 18 months away from the club, focus is on getting back to business as usual and the 3-year plan is adopted as a 5 year plan. In 2018-19 we make significant progress and complete many developments ahead of schedule and therefore review the strategic plan. Towards the end of the following season (March 2020), Coronavirus hits ending the season early. We start to build a three-year Strategic Plan for HRFC with consultation across the club. 2018 2019 2020 2021 2021 2022 2022 2023 Jan. 2018 Apr. 2018 June 2019 Mar. 2020 We launch Twickenham by Twenty , the three- year plan for seasons 2018-19, 19-20, 20- 21. (See Twickenham by Twenty presentation) At the AGM in June 2019, we relaunch One Club Successful at all Levels plan for the remaining two-year period The 2020/21 season is all but cancelled, with the club focused on financial security and survival. The 2022/23 season sees a number of important projects prioritised to move the club forward under the same categories as previous strategies.

  4. In Year Development Achievements Won the Devon Intermediate Cup, National Senior Vase and promotion to Western Counties West. Increased social media and marketing to increase support. Inducted new under 7s and had 8/10 junior age group sides operating well. Season 2018/19 Rugby Finished the clubhouse development including changing rooms, kitchen, showers and disabled toilets, digital upgrade and redecorating. Facilities Twickenham by Twenty Working more closely with the RFU for coaching support. Funding obtained for free coaching courses/CPD for all junior coaches Introduced sponsored Jnr Coaches jackets for consistent branding Introduced loss of earning insurance for senior players Coaches and Players Cleaning contract with Top to Bottom cleaning to reduce volunteer requirement Outsourced club shop to Honiton Sport to increase availability of items Improved Health and Wellbeing offer to member through B! Health and AR Sports Therapy Increased contact for all sponsors, following up on our promises e.g. media. Weekly sponsor lunches initiated with take up for 15 lunches in year. Partnerships

In Year Development Achievements Survived in the higher level of Western Counties West Rebranded the Second Team as Honiton Otters who finish forth in their league Rugby Season 2019/20 Bar refurbishment is complete, with larger cellar that has been refitted by the brewery FOC. Launched HRFC 100 Club with the aim of creating a fund for ongoing club development. Currently with 50+ members, with circa 200 profit per month. Facilities One Club Successful at All Levels Appointed a new senior coach with a vision for club-wide support. Held Rugby Ready, First Aid and CPD courses at HRFC for junior coaches. Coaches and Players Introduced three consistent sponsors for all junior kits, ensuring all age groups had 20 shirts, and were inter-changeable between age groups for sizing. Partnerships

  6. In Year Development Achievements Ensuring protocols were in place to allow seniors and juniors to train safely between lockdowns, maintaining our membership base. Rugby Allowed our facilities to be used as a food bank during lock downs, providing support for vulnerable people within our community. Partial re-opening for premiership and European finals, operating in a covid safe way, to bring in vital funds for the club. Coaches provided remote training and fitness plans for players, supporting our members as best we could. Season 2020/21 Facilities Coaches and Players Covid Worked with Sport England, EDDC and the RFU to secure covid funding to support us as a business and club, ensuring we were able to maintain paying the bills and have a secure future beyond covid. Partnerships

  7. In Year Development Achievements Under 16s competed in the latter stages of their cup competition First senior tour in four years successful. Rugby Replaced boilers due to wear and tear damage and to increase water capacity for showers. Reupholstered clubhouse seating and redecorated to increase external use. Established a wider use of the clubhouse for private hire e.g. Birthday Parties and events e.g. Charity fundraisers as well as community groups e.g. Andys Man Club/Macaton Appointed a new Senior Coach with experience of operating in a community rugby setting. Season 2021/22 Facilities Be the best we can be Coaches and Players Worked with sponsors who stuck with us through covid to re- negotiate or extend deals that benefit both parties in the long term. Work to drive membership value proposition via our sponsor network offering discounts. Partnerships

  8. In Year Priorities Re-establish a junior committee structure to give better support to teams. Increase sustainability of adult and junior sides through recruitment of increased member volumes. Rugby Season 2022/23 Improved Floodlighting is required for all sides to train effectively club to explore long and short term options for this. Improve water volume in the clubhouse to allow full use of shower facilities. Ensure all coaches are DBS checked and have opportunity for CPD, aligning to RFU Accreditation. Facilities Coaches and Players Be the best we can be Work with Everys and Westcotts (existing sponsors) to incorporate the club into a Ltd company and charity. Providing liability caps to the directors/trustees. Work with EDDC to finalise renewed 50/100 year lease for both pitches, providing club sustainability and enhanced funding. Continue to build sponsor network, renewing and bringing on new community businesses to support the club via Kit, Boards, player sponsorship. Partnerships

Coaches and Players Be the best we can be Incorporation underway with estimated completion date of May 2023. New lease being drawn up and agreed, aim of completion by May 2023. Ongoing pitchside sponsors being added, senior match ball sponsor added, increased number of corporate meals sold. Partnerships
