  1. Club Development Plan 28 April 2023

  2. Strategic Overvie w

  3. Introduction Haddenham Youth Football Club is delighted to submit this Club Development Plan. It has been prepared by HYFC s new committee (elected November 2022) and represents our renewed ambition. Our future development builds on strong foundations. The Club grew by 150 players under the past Chairman, saw the expansion of girls teams and the development of new pitches and Pavilion. With a growing community, we aim to attract more players, add more teams, improve our playing facilities and bag more wins, big or small. Our ambition is reflected in an updated brand identity launched today which will roll out on and offline for next season. It s time to fly

  4. Strong Foundations History Achievements Milestones U16s Runners up Berks & Bucks FA County Cup 2019 - first time a team from HYFC has ever been beyond the Quarter Final stage 150 additional players under past Chairman (10- year tenure) From 1995, the Club has grown across multiple playing environments and rolls out 22 teams, including girls, ladies and walking sides Girls football began in 2014, with the first ever U10s side winning the Thame tournament 40 Cup and League trophies Ladies football and walking football both added in 2017 Since 2017 HYFC has fielded a team at every age group, U7 - U18 c. 400 registered players (April 2023) New pitches and pavilion at Airfield site

  5. SWOT Weaknesses 2022/23 Season projected to make financial loss and cost-of-living crisis resulting in revenue (subs) collection challenge Sizeable investment required for new goals and equipment Low quality of Woodways 5-a-side pitches Lack of 3/4G pitch means peers such as Long Crendon, Thame, Risborough and Wendover attract more players No active fundraising, or regular collaborative work with Parish Council and other key stakeholders (until recently) Poor visibility and community engagement Poor information systems, website and internal club communications Lack of FA Qualified coaches Minimal specialist goalkeeping support No articulated football philosophy No Club Development Plan (until now!). Strengths Haddenham s most popular sports club Good local reputation as a family-friendly, inclusive community club Enthusiastic, committed coaches and supportive parents Success in leagues and cups often disproportionate to relative size of club/village Improving facilities, particularly with the Pavilion at Airfield, as well as a revitalised Sports and Social Club at Woodways New wider Committee leading Club with renewed ambition. Opportunities Increasing demand for football, especially from girls following Lionesses success Growing population in catchment area Strong, attractive and social-media-friendly updated brand identity New website and app (on Pitchero platform) will improve communication to the wider community as well as parents and coaches Beginning to exploit fundraising opportunities with co-ordinated approach to sponsorship and grants Develop new partnerships, from holiday clubs to elite/development football pathways and adult teams Grant-funded floodlights and changing kit supplier will reduce costs Develop a pool of qualified referees to reduce external costs. Threats Competition and coaching depth Costs of Safeguarding and FA courses means major investment needed Lack of coaches ready to achieve FA coaching badges means training standards slip If coaches leave, at risk of not being able to replace them resulting in teams folding Shortage of volunteers to drive Club development Shortage of coaches for girls teams risks loss of players/reduced potential to recruit Referee costs increasing year on year Rising costs cannot be immediately offset with increased subs due to affordability (cost of living). from neighbouring villages/clubs with superior facilities

  6. Our Vision Remain Haddenham s most popular sports club Be open to more players, regardless of ability to play or pay To nurture a love of the game, team spirit and sense of belonging to an inclusive, family friendly club Position the Club as an integral part of the local community To continually improve the safety and quality of the coaching experience To secure and provide enhanced training and match facilities To bag more wins, however big or small To manage a sustainable club
