Going to the Zoo!
Festival to be delivered in
school in colour groups.
10 different activities.  These
can be completed in different
sessions, or a sample of
activities used.
Encourage the children to
score their own station and use
the tally chart.
Kangaroo Hop
(muscular endurance)
 
 
Run or hop between
the floor strips one
child at a time
Use throw down
lines, mini hurdles or
two footed jumps
Snakes in the grass
(agility)
 
Run in/out of large cones from
lying start on front to lying finish
on back
Operate as a relay
Cheetah Chase
(speed)
 
 
Shuttle runs to
collect beanbags
1 team member
collects one and
returns in a relay
Elephant push
(strength)
 
 
On all fours
Front support to
back support
Hold for 5-10
seconds in each
position
Giraffe Feed
(flexibility)
 
 
Reach up high and
touch the wall to get
the highest mark
Station needs
support
Frog Leap
(strength and power)
 
 
Squat to jump from
one lily pad to the
next
Year 2 – squat to
straight jump, plus
lengthen distance
between spots
 
Bear Hunt
(co-ordination)
 
 
Hopscotch
Early years – hopping
Year 1/2 – 1 footed
to 2 footed, plus
swap hopping foot
each time
Stork stand
(balance)
 
 
Walk along bench with
a beanbag balanced on
head in a relay
Year 1 – add 3 floor
spots to top of bench,
bend to touch toes at
each marker
Year 2 – 1 footed
balance or reverse
bench to narrow
Monkey Throw
(co-ordination/target)
Stand on the spot
1 team member throws
their 3 beanbags to
the target
Partner adds the
number of tokens or
tally to match the
beanbags on target
Repeat
Steal the treasure
(endurance)
Start from your
coloured hoop
Run around the
circuit, every time
you pass your
coloured hoop
collect a token
Keep going even if
you have to walk
until the whistle
blows

  10. Monkey Throw (co-ordination/target) Stand on the spot 1 team member throws their 3 beanbags to the target Partner adds the number of tokens or tally to match the beanbags on target Repeat

  11. Steal the treasure (endurance) Start from your coloured hoop Run around the circuit, every time you pass your coloured hoop collect a token Keep going even if you have to walk until the whistle blows
