  3. JMG closing ceremony was held Tuesday night, May 17, 2022 and recognized their seniors.

  4. Annual #This Is Us Celebration

  5. It is with great pleasure we present this years Goodall Scholar Medal to Samantha Phillips, Samantha is the junior with the current highest unweighted GPA of 98.723. The Goodall Scholar Medal is named after the most important person in Sanford s history, Thomas Goodall. Founder of the Goodall Mills, Mr. Goodall had a genuine love of Sanford High School and its students. He believed that those blessed with great gifts and abilities owe the school and the world greater service. Thomas Goodall met his great responsibility with many worthy achievements and friendly loving deeds throughout his life until his death in 1910. Mr. Goodall personally awarded this medal to the student with the highest standing in scholarship.

  7. SRTC was happy to welcome our partner district Superintendents and School Committee members for our first in- person meeting in some time on Friday, May 6th. Guest were treated to lunch in the SRTC Culinary Arts Cafe and then heard from SRTC students through a panel discussion and the opportunity to meet in a small group with SRTC students from their district. This event is an annual favorite for many and this year was no exception. Thank you to our SRTC students who served on the panel and those who agreed to meet with their district guests to talk about their experiences at SRTC. Thank you also to Chef John Couture and his students who provided a lovely lunch.

  12. Author Kate Messner gave a wonderful presentation to all our CJL students about her books and how she came up with the stories. She also explained how the process works in creating a story and working with a publisher and illustrator. The Sanford District purchased a different book for each grade level and they were handed out to every student the day of the presentation. The students were all very excited about the author and books.

  13. In Music, second graders have been learning how to read and perform quarter- and eighth-note rhythms. Mrs. Loignon's class practiced these rhythms with their voices, with clapping, and finally, on the drums!

  14. Compliment Web at Carl J. Lamb Shaylyn our SEL kindergarten - Grade 1 Teacher built a compliment web as a way to show respect to each other. Each student passed the yarn ball to someone they wanted to give a compliment to while holding a piece of the yarn. They talked about how they are all connected to each other by being kind and respectful to each other. They were challenged to give a compliment to at least one person a day for the month of May.

  15. Carl J. Lamb Color Fun Run The Color Fun Run was a huge success. We want to thank everyone who came out to volunteer and participate!!!! Also a big shout out for our Sponsors. The Fun Run raised over 6000 dollars for replacement equipment on the playground.

  17. Classrooms in Action The first grade team and part of the kindergarten team are counting down the final days of school with a Letter of the Day activity as they sail into summer. During the final 26 days of school they reveal a new letter and special activity that correlates. Students have been enjoying art projects, bubbles, chalk time, dance parties, extra recess, favorite stuffy/song, gum during writer s workshop and hat day. Check out some of their fun the past few days!

  18. The students started last week with a visit from Kate Messner, a New York Times best selling author who has written several books. Students were engaged as she shared how she gathers her research for each text and writing tips if they too want to become an author. Students had the opportunity to hear some of her stories in the library like Over and Under the Snow, Over and Under the Canyon and Ranger in Time. Kate also currently has seven of her texts on Epic and copies of her chapter books can be found in the MCS library, Springvale library and Goodall library.

  20. SPE Student Leaders The SPE student leaders are comprised of third and fourth grade students that exhibit leadership qualities and are also a 5 core student. Students interested in becoming a student leader, must express interest in writing and get a teacher s recommendation. Throughout the year, the student leaders are involved in various activities that add to the positive culture at SPE. A few of the activities that student leaders have been involved in this year include: Plan monthly spirit weeks Help with teacher appreciation week activities Support K staff with Kindergarten recess and lunch Plan the SPE 100 Day activities Work with our cafeteria staff to plan the menu Meet with student leaders from a different school district to learn about what activities they work on at their school Interview staff members Provide school administration to see the school through a student s lens We are very proud of our leaders and are grateful for all their efforts this year!

  21. SANFORD COMMUNITY SANFORD COMMUNITY ADULT EDUCATION ADULT EDUCATION

  22. We are preparing for our Summer term which runs July 6- August 11, every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We will have three sessions running: HiSET Academy will run 12:00- 3:00, ELA will run 6:00-9:00 and the ELL class will run 10:00- 2:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays only.
