SMS Great Kindness Challenge 2022 SMS Great Kindness Challenge 2022 We are very proud of our SMS students and staff for participating in the annual GREAT KINDNESS CHALLENGE last week! This is a national event where schools complete as many random acts of kindness as possible within the week. We saw many students thanking our custodial staff, making cards for the cafeteria workers, leaving notes of thanks for our school nurses and others. We saw students pushing in chairs and picking up trash, helping new students, as well as complimenting peers and sending thank you notes to teachers. We hope this is just the beginning! We encourage all of our students to continue this wave of kindness through the school every day.
SMS as a full school completed 6,400 KIND acts in one week! Congratulations to 8TH GRADE for completing the most kind acts at 3,476! A special shout out to the following homerooms who completed the highest total of kind acts for their grade levels: * 5th grade Daniels 450 * 6th grade Pyle 261 * 7th grade Christie 226 * 8th grade White 900 and Stefanilo - 549

Lunar New Year: The first grade classrooms learned about Lunar New Year, also called Chinese New Year this week. The students had the opportunity to design and create red lanterns for good luck and to keep Nian away. The students were able to immerse themselves in Goldy Luck and the Three Pandas and learned about the various Chinese Zodiac animals.
Spirit Week: Each day the students showcased their school spirit with a kindness themed spirit day. "Let Your Kindness Shine (Neon)", "Dreaming of Kindness (PJ), "Yeehaw, Rounding up Kindness (Western Style), "Team Kindness (Sports)" and "Rocking with Kindness (Rock n' Roll)".
The Great Kindness Challenge: The students completed 1,682 acts of kindness during the month of January at MCS. They created posters throughout the building, left notes for staff members, smiled at friends, held open doors for peers and many more actions to brighten someone's day. As a concluding activity the entire school went sledding throughout the day on back hills. Thank you to our amazing PTA who purchased 25 sled for students to use.
2/2/22- This monumental day required another spirit day at MCS! Check out our students who wore tutus, ties or dressed as a twin to celebrate this marvelous number. Throughout the day students participated in various mathematical activities.
