Indicators Aotearoa New Zealand aims to measure and improve the wellbeing of New Zealanders by tracking environmental, social, and economic progress. The indicators incorporate Māori perspectives and will monitor current and future generations' wellbeing impact. Stakeholders can provide input through consultations for the final indicator selection. Stay informed and have your say to shape New Zealand's wellbeing strategy.   1. Indicators Aotearoa New Zealand Measuring New Zealand s wellbeing

  2. What is Indicators Aotearoa New Zealand? Indicators Aotearoa New Zealand will measure our progress and help improve the wellbeing of New Zealanders. The indicators will track how we re doing environmentally, socially, and economically. Indicators Aotearoa New Zealand will inform government policy and investment, ensuring decisions are made through a wellbeing lens.

  3. What are the indicators? The wellbeing indicators will build on international best practice. They will incorporate cultural and te ao M ori perspectives. Some of the indicators will be new, and some will already exist (such as GDP). Organisations will be able to create a dashboard to track their own progress.

  4. Now, later, and elsewhere The indicators will monitor: Here and now the wellbeing of the current generation, eg life satisfaction and health. Later what we re leaving behind for future generations, eg fish stocks and waste. Elsewhere how our actions are impacting on other countries, eg foreign aid.

  5. Whats next? The selection of indicators has started, and will be available from the end of this year. The final set of indicators will be signed off in early 2019. We will regularly test the indicators to make sure they are enduring, robust, relevant, and flexible.

  6. How can I have my say? You can make an online submission on the indicators at Indicators Aotearoa New Zealand Ng T tohu Aotearoa: Consultation. This will be available on 31 July 2018. Stats NZ will also be consulting on indicators around Aotearoa. Keep an eye on our webpage for our calendar.
