  1. Wellbeing Reporting on wellbeing

  2. Learning Intentions. Today you will learn: 1. What is a JCPA? 2. How is wellbeing reported? 3. What are the 6 indicator of Wellbeing? 4. How to list, rank, prioritise & write my Wellbeing statements? 5. How to link my Wellbeing statements to the 6 indicators of Wellbeing.

  3. What is a JCPA? Instead of receiving a certificate containing just your JC results, you will receive a Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement (JCPA). This JCPA (Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement) will contain: 1. The results of your JC State Exams. 2. The results/descriptors for your completed Classroom Based Assessment/s in 3. Information on Other Areas of Learning you have undertaken during 1st, 2nd and 3rd year in school. 4. Information on Wellbeing

  5. Reporting on your wellbeing From 2022 onwards students wellbeing experiences will be reported on their Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement (JCPA) Each student will be required to give 3 statements on their Wellbeing experiences which will be collected by their SPHE teacher and will appear on their JCPA These statements will be linked to the 6 indicators of Wellbeing. You will meet/experience these indicators through the following:

  6. SPHE CSPE PE All other subject areas Daily interactions with the school community Extra-curricular activities

  8. These sentence starters will help you to begin writing statements about you and the learning you engage with during the Wellbeing Programme: We will use the Wellbeing Indicators to guide us Active Your Name demonstrated their confidence and skill in physical activity when they Aware Your Name showed an awareness of their feelings when they Resilient Your Name practiced coping skills when they Your Name acted upon constructive feedback and showed great improvement when they...

  9. What you need to do. Think about how you have experienced/met the Wellbeing indicators since you joined JTBCS in First Year. Write in the Third Person. Make a list of these experiences in sentence form. Here are some examples/scaffolds to help you to get started.

  10. AWARE In wellbeing classes, X learned about resilience, friendship, self- care and tools to manage challenging situations. In wellbeing class, X explored the concept of mindfulness and engaged in activities such as mindful breathing, mindful colouring and meditation. This has taught him/her the importance of taking time to reflect and to be present in today's busy world. X used his/her student voice in the classroom, by engaging in self directed, reflective learning using learning strategies that helped him/her to look deeply at how he/she learns.

  11. ACTIVE X participated on the athletics team. X took part in many Cross Country and Track and Field competitions. X learned how to be confident and set personal goals from this experience. X improved his/her physical fitness. X completed a wellbeing walk on the school walkway. X became aware of the importance of staying well and improving his/her physical fitness. X developed an awareness of the importance of personal hygiene in order to prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as Covid 19. X also became an active citizen by staying at home and obeying the lockdown restrictions in order to protect the vulnerable people during the Covid 19 pandemic. X took positive action to safeguard and promote his/her wellbeing and the wellbeing of others.

  12. CONNECTED In SPHE classes, X explored what it means to be a good friend, how to move past challenges and how to connect to others in his/her school community. X showed care, respect and compassion for others as he/she understands the importance of a welcoming school community, in which everyone feels like they belong. X was an active member of an online class during remote learning, which helped him/her to feel connected with his/her class and the school community.

  13. RESILIENT Through X s use of the learning strategies, he/she has learned that with effort, he/she can achieve. X learned that making a mistake is an opportunity to grow as a person. It is important to take responsibility for such actions and to move forward in a positive way. In X s time in Junior Cycle, X learned that it is a sign of strength to ask for help and he/she knows where to go to get support in the school.

  14. RESPONSIBLE For X s safety and that of others, x was responsible and careful with the safety and wellbeing of others at all times. X was careful and considerate with his/her use of Personal Protective Equipment such as disinfectant sprays showing responsibility and care for the safety of all members of the school community. X has met with one of the school's Guidance Counselors to help X make a responsible and informed decision about his/her future after Third Year.

  15. RESPECTED X makes an effort every day to make sure that his/her daily interactions with his/her friends, teachers and family are positive. X showed care and respect for others by being a nice person on the corridor and classroom. X understands the importance of being kind, smiling at others and showing good manners. Through classes, X has learnt that his/her voice is important and that it important to listen to others and value their opinions.

  16. Collecting Wellbeing statements In consultation with your SPHE teacher and your parents choose 3 statements that best describe how you met experienced the Wellbeing indicators over your Junior Cycle journey. It is your responsibility to ensure that the spelling, punctuation and grammar is correct. These statements will be collected by the school in the last term of Third Year. (possibly through MS Forms through a link on the 3rd year Hub on Teams) They will appear on your JCPA.
