Workgroup Updates: Developmental Disabilities Practice Improvement Team (DD-PIT) Overview of recent activity: Identified specific items the DD-PIT can provide input and/or feedback in the upcoming year: Home Community Based Services (HCBS) full implementation and future, ongoing monitoring; 1115 waiver application; direct workforce issues How this work improves the lives of people served (quality): Supports Intensity Scale (SIS): The BPHASA Workgroup is updating the statewide guidance with feedback from stakeholders. The summary will be shared with DD-PIT after it is shared with the workgroup members (Jan 2023). Received update on HCBS Heightened Scrutiny Review: BPHASA is completing the review process to assemble a final list for CMS by March 2023 full implementation. Provide feedback on possible additional questions for Michigan s National Core Indicators 2023 Adult In-Person Survey Impact on Individuals who receive support HCBS Waiver Renewals: BPHASA is exploring the option to hold stakeholder meetings to assist with renewal preparation. Conflict-free access planning CFAP): after a public comment period for the proposed plan, BPHASA will determine a compliance timeline; the activities can coincide with efforts to update the Person Centered Planning policy Discussion of the need for a children s (with I/DD) quality measure similar to National Core Indicators for adults with I/DD Next steps: Review membership applications Monthly meetings: 2nd Wednesday at 1 pm 10
Workgroup Updates: National Core Indicators (NCI) Overview of recent activity Shared the 2021 survey results with the NCI Advisory Council Reviewed differences between the 2019 to 2021 survey results (positive change, areas of concern) How this work improves the lives of people served (quality): NCI provides a standardized way to measure and track indicators for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities served through the public mental health system. It is a standard set of performance and outcome measures to track States' performances over time, compare results across states, and establish national benchmarks for services. Impacts on PIHPs and CMHSPs operations: Survey results are being shared with PIHP and CMHSP quality improvement teams, advisory councils, etc. to inform discussions and identify opportunities to improve the quality of services and supports to adults with I/DD. Next steps: Preparing for the upcoming survey: CMHSPs are contacting individuals in the survey sample, preparing interested individuals NCI Background Information and Pre-Survey materials. Training for NCI interviewers: updates for existing interviewers and prepare new interviewers Next NCI Advisory Council meeting: January 26th Questions? 11
