Wide spectrum of animal telemetry data collection protocols and platforms require enhanced data stewardship options for secure sharing before public release. The need for a more granular understanding of available data and structured systems integration is crucial. Initial workflow involves providing tools for secure data documentation, assessing data variety, and building networks for secure data sharing among partners in the Animal Telemetry Network (AATN).

  2. Background Wide spectrum of animal telemetry data collection protocols and platforms (species, tags and motivations) Existing animal telemetry data systems are focused on making data publicly available as finalized products Data stewards need options for controlling access and securely share data before those data are made public AATN system designers need a more granular understanding of the variety of data available and being collected Before we can have a system(computers) we need a network (human beings)

  3. Initial Workflow Provide AT data stewards with tools to document and stage their data securely from the perspective of the research effort Assess the wide spectrum of data available and develop scope and mission of AATN Isolate data sets that are good candidates to be integrated with each other and plugged into more structured DM systems. Some AT resources will need to exist as standalone data sets. Integrate and upscale certain datasets.

  4. Step 1: Build the network and securely share data with AATN partners Establish Research Workspace group for ATTN and facilitate it s use Before we can talk about how we are going to use this data we need to have granular understanding of what data is available and in what forms. This will also allow AATN network members to securely share data with each other and standardize on best practices.
