Strategic context Why we need a SASAS Strategy? Develop the necessary capacity for the advancement of animal science and related professions in order to promote viable animal production systems, while sustaining natural resources and the environment, thereby enhancing welfare, job and wealth creation, as well as poverty alleviation. The new strategy is informed by various imperatives at local, regional, continental, and global level National Development Plan (NDP) Vision for 2030 African Union s Agenda 2063 United Nation s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
Vision Sustainable animal production for all Mission - To advance animal science and related professions. - To promote viable animal production systems while sustaining natural resources and the environment, thereby serving in the interests of animal and human welfare. - To enhance the discovery, dissemination, and application of scientific knowledge for sustainable animal production and food provision for all. - To enhance human capital development in animal science and related professions. - Sustainable animal production for all
Values ethical science, independence, non-discrimination, tolerance of diversity honesty, integrity, respect, non-partisanship innovation, diligence, responsiveness, and collaboration.
Strategic Outcomes and Objectives OUTCOME 1: Facilitate public dialogue on animal production and environmental sustainability Strategic objective 1 science-based public policy are upheld regarding animal production and animal products. Objective statement stakeholders (for example, SACNASP) on the role of animal science professions in South Africa. Strategic objective 2 and animal products in compliance with public welfare and general interest. Objective statement(s) nationally and internationally. To ensure that high standards of education, research, technology and Goal 1: Actively engage with government, industry and relevant To serve as a mouthpiece on all matters relating to animal production Goal 2: Foster affiliations and partnerships with relevant stakeholders Goal 3: Stimulate public dialogue, marketing and promotion of animal science professions.

Strategic objective 3 development of its members. Objective statement(s) science professionals. To foster the scientific interest, professional status, growth and Goal 4: Ensure that the PAC is actively involved in registrations of animal Goal 5: Foster priority training and development areas in the natural sciences which allows South Africa a competitive advantage (CPD and CMP programmes). Goal 6: Development of mechanisms to incorporate and support animal science students at SASAS. Goal 7: Development of mechanisms to grow and sustain membership.
Strategic Outcomes and Objectives cont. OUTCOME 3: Contribute towards knowledge generation, dissemination and engagement. Strategic objective 4 To publish a scientific journal and improve its standing nationally and internationally. Objective statement(s) Goal 8: Maintain the SAJAS publication and improve its impact factor annually. Strategic objective 5 Objective statement(s) To organise and host scientific congresses and symposia on a regular basis. Goal 9: Ensure that SASAS congresses and symposiums are organised and held annually.

OUTCOME 4: Ensure good governance and financial sustainability Strategic objective 6 To foster a culture of good corporate governance principles in relation to the Council. Objective statement(s) Goal 10: Maintain effective governance framework, efficient financial management systems, risk management and internal controls.
