Date: Tuesday 14th April 2020 Lesson Objective: To use adverbs Activity: Recap key language of adverbs, verbs and adjectives. Adjectives: describes a noun (long, sparkly, smooth) Verbs: action words (jump, skipped, ran) Adverbs: describes a verb (slowly, carefully) Work through the Lesson One English powerpoint all about adverbs. Use the Lesson One English activity worksheet to add the verbs and adverbs.
Date: Wednesday 15th April 2020 Lesson Objective: To use nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs. Activity: Recap key language of adverbs, verbs and adjectives. Adjectives: describes a noun (long, sparkly, smooth) Verbs: action words (jump, skipped, ran) Adverbs: describes a verb (slowly, carefully) Watch the video. https://www.literacyshed.com/the-clock-tower.html Discuss what is happening in the story- What has happened to the girl? Why did the world go grey? Pause the video at 0:06 Can you write some sentences using adjectives, verbs and adverbs to describe the scene? Here is an example: The marshmallow clouds bounced smoothly in the sky. After writing, check your sentences for full stops and capital letters.
Date: Thursday 16th April 2020 Lesson Objective: To sequence a story. Activity: Watch The Clocktower Story again . https://www.literacyshed.com/the-clock-tower.html Draw a story map with key symbols and words to help you retell the story. Here is an example of a story map-> Once you have drawn your story map, can you retell it to someone in your house? Add story language like One day, suddenly, after that, soon, next, in the end.
Date: Friday 17th April 2020 Lesson Objective: To write a fantasy story. Activity: Watch The Clock Tower Story again . https://www.literacyshed.com/the-clock-tower.html Using your story map, write a story to go with the video. You may wish to write the beginning of the story on Thursday and the middle and end of Friday. Here are some things that you should try and include in your story: -full stops, capital letters, finger spaces -verb, adverbs, nouns and adjectives
