Chapter Meeting
Stick to agenda
Limit discussion, even on heated subjects.
Only one or two representative from each house can
vote at the chapter meeting, usually the House
President and Housing Services person.
A limited number of alumni may be allowed to vote if a
majority of the chapter agrees.
Stick to the 3:1 Ratio. (1 voting alumni for every three
houses on the chapter)
Parliamentary Procedure
Stick to parliamentary procedure.
Chairperson cannot make motions.
Chapter officers do not vote.
One or two votes per house.
50/50 vote = failed motion.
Require hands to be raised for voting, to ensure accurate
count for meeting minutes.
Motion ➡️ Second ➡ Brief Discussion ➡ Vote
Chapter Meeting Tips
Make sure each house shows up a few minutes early
and brings the following:
Check for dues already written with two signatures.
Housing Summary Report completed and accurate.
Copy of most recent audit and bank statement.
Any receipts for reimbursement.
Pen and paper to take notes.
Positive attitude.

Visiting Houses
Be respectful. You are a guest in someone else’s home.
Strength in numbers, never go alone.
Always call ahead except in emergency situations.
Remember we are all on the same team with the same
goals.
Make suggestions and give guidance.

Don’t assume that one visit will be enough.
Money does not solve the underlying problems.
Do not take away the houses right to vote, evict
members, or remove the checkbook from the house,
Unless the house is put on contract for violating its
charter.
