2018 Precision Ag Council Plan
November 2017
PAC Mission & Objectives
Mission
Facilitate the development of industry standards, guidelines and implementation protocols to enhance
the ability of end users to capture the value of the precision technologies and systems.
Review the current state of the industry encompassing the entire precision ag value chain, and identify
issues and opportunities for collaboration.
Objectives
Accelerate the adoption of precision ag technologies and services by determining standards and
guidelines to be identified, developed, adopted, implemented or enhanced.
Establish collaboration between equipment manufacturers, software suppliers, crop input suppliers and
agronomic services providers to identify, change, manage and adopt standards and business processes
that address the precision ag data issues that limit systems interoperability. This will ensure the producer
(farmer) and value chain partners achieve the highest levels of efficiency, cost reductions and
profitability.
Engage other global standards organizations to leverage their work and enhance the overall standard
development and business processes.
43
PAC Guiding Principals
Facilitate member implementation of
standards, APIs, and project-specific
tools (e.g., ADAPT).
Identify new pain points within the
council and across councils.
Project and standards collaboration with
Government agencies
Industry standards groups
Active participation in
All AgGateway Committees
Cross-council communication
Increase interaction with AgGateway
Global Network companies.
44
2018 FOCUS AREAS

45
1. Facilitate member implementation of standards,
APIs, and ADAPT
Goal
:  Finalize an Implementation
Toolkit(s) to guide members through
the implementation process of
standards and APIs from SPADE, PAIL,
Remote Sensing, and ADAPT.
Metric
: Implementation Toolkit(s)
published on Wiki and
communicated to membership and
public.
Tactic
: Select target dates for
availability of toolkit from each of
Remote Sensing, SPADE4, PAIL, and
ADAPT
46
http://www.newforesight.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/implementation_big.png
2. Increase Participation of New and Current PAC
Members
Goal
: Increase PAC member participation in working groups and
projects. Engage other council members in PAC work where that
work overlaps with those councils.
Metric
: Increase by 20% new participation in PAC working groups
and projects by 2018 mid-year meeting. 20% increase will be based
on number of companies actively contributing to PAC work.
Tactics
Restructure SPADE4 to use a single-project-at-a-time approach and allow
members to participate as SMEs and workers for individual SPADE4 sub-
projects.
Creation of an implementation task force that will leverage the newly
created Implementation toolkits to target key AgGateway member
companies.
Engage PAC member C-level staff by demonstrating the value of AgGateway
to their companies, industries
Implementation Task Force focused on C-Suite level staff of companies to
drive adoption of AgGateway work

3. Identify Pain Points for PAC Members
Goal
: Identify pain points beyond data
sharing and interoperability that need to be
addressed to facilitate successful, complete
e-business communication.
Metric
: Document top three pain points
throughout the year and determine if an
existing working group is available to assist
with this pain point.
Tactics
Use toolkit overviews and cross-council
discussion/learning to identify sample PAC
pain points to spark discussion at each PAC
meeting,
Host two workshops in 2018 open to all
AgGateway members, or in conjunction with
some other group: AEF, ADC, …
Discuss with other councils to determine if
we share common pain points.
