CABEC CABEC Mentoring Program The CABEC Mentorship Program is designed to partner up seasoned a CABEC CEA energy consultants with mentees that are interested in beginning a new career or those who are Energy Consultants that are not Certified Energy Analyst yet. Attend monthly online Mentoring meetings over the 11-month program with each month geared to specific building feature/design. Online mentor meetings to help support and supplement program monthly meetings. Attend online classes and review applicable materials offered by Energy Code Ace, Energy Commission and other industry resources. Research building feature of the month and create library of products and resources. Develop series of models with building feature research in multiple climate zones under guidance of Mentor. Program Length Monthly Activities Take the CEA exam In person

  3. CABEC Who s Who Mentor Mentee 2022 CalBEM Power Talk - CABEC Mentoring Program Meet with mentor they are paired with and other mentees in their pod . Stay accessible, committed, and engaged during the length of the program. Be a CEA in good standing. Meet with mentee(s) and/or engage in mentoring activities and stay accessible, committed, and engaged during the length of the program. Attend classes, view resources, and be ready to ask questions at scheduled meetings. Participate in the modeling and research activities. Willingly share your experience (such as lessons learned and stories from your own career). Be a positive role model. 3

CABEC CEA Competencies CEA Competencies Supported by the Residential Mentoring Program CEA Competencies Supported by the Residential Mentoring Program Competency 1: Energy Basics Competency 1: Energy Basics Demonstrate knowledge of basic heat transfer, residential energy design measures, and how they relate to building energy performance or metrics. 2022 CalBEM Power Talk - CABEC Mentoring Program Competency 2: Project Assessment Competency 2: Project Assessment Gather preliminary information from drawings, related documents, and the client to determine the nature and scope of the project; determine how to apply the Standards in establishing the correct code requirements and the available energy compliance options. Competency 3: Take Competency 3: Take- -Offs Review drawings, specifications and information provided by the designer or client; gather, calculate and record all pertinent data to input into the energy modeling software. Check to see if on- screen and report results are reasonable, and if not, correct the source of the error(s).
