Butler Grade 2: Virtual Spirit Week We might not be able to be in class together this week, but we can still have a blast! Post a picture on SeeSaw of you participating in our Spirit Week! Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Crazy Hair or Hat Day Super- hero Day Jersey Day Butler Spirit Day Pajama Day Let s honor our first responders, health care professionals, and all other essential personnel that are working to keep us safe. Show us your craziest hair style in honor of our Hairstylists that are unable to give everyone a hair cut! Let s face it! The best part about learning at home is we get to stay in our PJs! Wear your favorite team jersey in honor of all the sports that have been postponed! Show your BUTLER pride and wear your Spirit gear!
Learning Board Format Continues Learning Board Format Continues Welcome to this weeks Learning Board. This board contains all activities for the week so that you and your family can complete at times that work for you. At your convenience, you/your child can pick 4 activities (or more if you like). It is recommended that you pick one activity from Reading or Writing (LA), one from WTW, and one from Math. The math activities can be chosen from the board or the section titled Math Activities. The fourth activity is a free choice. If you and your child would like to communicate to me completed activities, please post on Seesaw or send me an e-mail. I love seeing what my kiddos are doing! Also, I will continue to post a morning greeting and our read aloud daily. Have a great week! All special class lessons can be found by visiting the Butler homepage. If possible, just make sure your child is reading every day, playing a math game or doing some sort of math, and getting outside for fresh air and movement.
Science/Social Studies Reading Writing WTW Sort 28 Math Other D.E.A.R.: 20 minutes daily Today find your special place to fall into a good book and read for 20 minutes. If you are in the mood to read aloud, then gather a sibling, pet or stuffed friend and read a book together. Write a paragraph about something you did this past weekend. Try to remember everything you learned about being a writer. Make sure to have a topic sentence, 3 or more details, and a closing sentence. Use your notebook from your grab bag. Read the words below: turn curve burn hurt curl cure purse burst blur church curb churn curse Go outside and write the words in chalk or hop and skip as you spell the words out loud. Create a receipt for shopping at a store. Include 10 items and their cost. Then, create 4 math problems that can be solved using the information in your receipt. For example, milk $3.50 + bread $1.50= $5.00 Watch the video below by clicking the link. Continents and Oceans When the video is over, take both the EASY QUIZ and HARD QUIZ. Choose an activity your teacher posted on Seesaw. Have fun completing and posting. sure pure nurse hurl surf In your grab bag, pull out the reading comprehension passage entitled, Tornado Drill. Read 3X, complete Read and Look Back and Read and Respond. Seesaw post is optional. Write a letter to your teacher or principal. What can you tell them about? What questions might you ask? Make sure to include a date, greeting, body, closing and signature. Use the friendly letter paper in your grab bag. Read the words above. Complete Dial A Word. After you read the story complete two of the Puzzlers: Word Match and Fact or Fiction? In your Friends Anthologyread Project Feeder Watch on pages 156-161. In your grab bag take out the Main Idea and Details graphic organizer. Complete the worksheet listing the main idea and two supporting details. Write your ideas in complete sentences. Seesaw post is optional. Turn on some music and sing along as if no one can hear you! Use the prompt below to write or type a story with an illustration. Read the words above in the first box. Play a game on Spelling City (Sort 28) to practice your words. Find the missing number: 19 + _____= 56 ______+ 21= 63 46+______= 75 _______+32= 71 29+______= 81 Watch the Mystery Doug Why do Birds lay eggs in the spring? Write in your journal three things you learned. Imagine you received a magic wand. How would it help you? What would you use it for? Choose a non-fiction book about your favorite animal on Epic. Post a drawing or picture of the animal and record 3 facts you learned on Seesaw. Use the "Common to Proper" grammar sheet in your writing packet to practice naming proper nouns. Make sure to use an uppercase! Read the words above in the first box. Get a plate with rims. Fill with salt, sand or flour and trace the words. Be sure to clean up when you are done. Create your own word problem. The answer is 76 french fries. Create a number sentence that will equal 76. Read Scholastic One of These Eggs Is Fake! Complete from your packet: Read and Think and Beach Map. Choose someone in your house and tell them three things you love about them.
