OPTIC Strategy Analyzing Visuals
Why Use OPTIC? -A text can be anything (speech, non-fiction piece, poem, advertisement, fiction piece, visual). -Many students panic when they have to analyze a visual (i.e. your WOD on 3D Printing). -OPTIC provides a clear strategy that explains how to look for what is important.

OVERVIEW -What is the visual about? -What s going on? -Brief Summary
PARTS -Break apart the image and look at its individual parts -What parts, elements, and details are important? (Colors, figures, groupings, patterns)
TITLE -What information does the title add?
INTERRELATIONSHIPS What connections can be made between the title and the parts of the visual?
CONCLUSION -Draw a conclusion about the visual as a whole by stating its theme or the argument it is making.
