  1. My Travel Plan By Joel Davis

  2. Where I plan to go and why I plan to go to Halifax, Nova Scotia over the summer of 2020. I have chosen Nova Scotia as I have always wanted to see the East Coast of Canada and my mom has been there before. Some of the activities I have planned include hiking the Cabot trail and kayaking among others. I would also love to do some sight seeing at the Halifax Citadel as I have learned about it s history in school. This trip will give me the opportunity to see a different part of Canada and the difference in culture.

  3. My travelling companions I will be going to Halifax by myself after I graduate from high school. I have always wanted to travel somewhere when I am old enough and I think it would be exciting to visit Nova Scotia. As I would be going solo on this adventure I would have to work to earn enough money to go on a trip of this size. This trip will help me grow more independent and will be the way I celebrate my graduation.

  4. Length / duration of trip I will be staying in Nova Scotia for 6 days as I have quite a few places I want to visit and many activities I want to do. The next few slides outline the places I shall visit over the week and some of the things I will be doing at these places. But before that how will I get there and how will I get from place to place?

  5. Transportation and travel I will be flying to Nova Scotia on July 10thfor the first day of my trip. The departing flight costs $480 and the return flight costs $426, in total my flight costs will amount to $906. To travel around the island I will be renting a car, as Nova Scotia isn t the largest place I can easily drive to all the places I plan to visit. My rental car will cost $542 plus the cost of gas. Total transportation cost = $1448 + gas prices

  6. Second day The second day I m in Halifax I will be visiting the Halifax Citadel. This is a national historic site that was created back when Halifax was founded in 1750.

  7. Third day The third day I will be hiking part of the Cabot Trail. As someone who enjoys hiking and a good view of the ocean I really want to take this hike in the farthest east part of the island.

  8. Fourth day I will be going kayaking in the Bay of Fundy. I have been kayaking before and my mom recommended that I go kayaking here.

  9. Fifth day I will be visiting Peggy s Cove. Peggy s Cove is known for it s lighthouses and beaches so I have decided to take a break from the physical activities and take a relaxing break.

  10. Sixth day I will explore the city of Halifax for the last day before I have to catch my plane.

  11. Necessary equipment and supplies I won t need many supplies as when I go kayaking there are rentals, and I am only hiking part of the Cabot trail. If I was hiking the whole trail I would need a tent and much more supplies but I m only hiking part of it, this is because I want a relaxing trip. I will be bringing all my clothes and other essentials for a regular vacation.

  12. Meal Plans Most nights I will be eating out for dinner as I have to try the lobster and other sea food that Nova Scotia is known for. At the hotel I am staying in there is a buffet so that will be my breakfast each day. As for lunches I will have to pack them when I m going hiking and kayaking but when I m just visiting tourist sights I can visit a subway that is near my hotel.

  13. Advice from someone who has completed the trip before My mom has been to Nova Scotia before and she highly recommended the trip and some of the places I plan on going to. Some of the places she recommended I go to were the fortress of Louisbourg, the Peggy s Cove lighthouses, and Cape Breton National Park. She stayed in Halifax which is where I plan to go, my mom also recommended some restaurants that I should try when I am there.

  14. Physical preparation for the trip There are two types of physical preparation that I will need, the first is for hiking the Cabot Trail. I will only be hiking for one day with the purpose of getting to lookouts of the ocean. I am not trying to hike the entire trail so I can do some hikes here in BC like the Elfin Lakes Trail and the Chief for preparation, nothing too strenuous. The second type of preparation I will need is for kayaking in the Bay of Fundy. I know how to kayak and there is an expert who will be taking us kayaking and acting as a guide, so there is no reason to worry about getting lost. I can go kayaking before the trip for some practice as well, this will help me prepare for kayaking in the Bay of Fundy.

  15. Planning in advance I will have to work enough to make the money for this trip so I should start putting aside some money now. By planning where I want to go I can organize my time and won t have to worry about where I m going once I m there. I already talked about the physical preparation and I have chosen where I will be eating so I feel I will be ready for this trip when the time comes.

  16. When do you plan to complete this adventure? I plan to go on this trip in the summer of 2020 as I will have graduated high school by then. By that time I will be old enough to travel by myself and I can save enough money for the trip. I think that this would be a great adventure as I will have to be independent and work for this trip, I can t expect anyone else to plan my trip for me. So I think this will be a great test of maturity while also being a fun trip.
