Terra Nova High School Home of Scholars and Champions Our Mission Statement: The Terra Nova High School community will develop socially responsible lifelong learners who are collaborative, creative, and adaptive thinkers via a rigorous academic curriculum and a variety of extracurricular activities that celebrate diversity and promote leadership skills.

Tiger Academic Achievement National Merit Scholarship Program Terra Nova annually has students recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program. The Class of 2016 had 4 students recognized. TN s Class of 2015 had the only 2 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists in school district and Northern San Mateo County. California Scholarship Federation CSF is a program that recognizes students maintaining a 3.5 GPA throughout the 8 semesters at TN Approximately 20% of the Class of 2016 graduated as CSF Lifetime Members.
Tiger Academic Achievement Golden State Seal Merit Diploma Class of 2016: 65 students Class of 2015: 41 students State Seal of Biliteracy Class of 2016: 2 students honored Class of 2015: 3 students honored Achievement Awards & Scholarship The Class of 2016 received over 50 grants and scholarships totaling over $360,295 and additionally 174 achievement awards. The Class of 2015 received scholarships and aid totaling over $722,000.

Performing Arts Program Take those with no experience necessary All levels of experience Dance Program Students learn techniques, aesthetic characteristics, historical context, and choreography from ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, Polynesian, waltz, and swing dance. Music Program We offer concert band, symphonic band, guitar and chorus. Theater Program Theater courses include dramatic performing arts and all technical aspects of theater production in our new multi-million dollar facility to provide a well-rounded education both on and off the stage. We present two major productions a year in addition to concerts, poetry slams, dance recitals, and a variety of smaller performances which are all open to the public.

9th Grade Success Skills Our Classes are built around 4 essential skill groups: G: Group work - learning how to work cooperatively and productively with others to reach a common goal O: Organization - how to track multiple assignments/tasks across different classes and/or multiple components of one assignment A: Advocacy - through self-advocacy students can better understand their strengths & weaknesses and learn what they need to be successful Being a good self-advocate can help students both academically and socially L: Literacy - Our courses are common-core aligned. We believe strong reading is essential in all subject areas even in elective classes, students are asked to analyze ideas, think critically and prepare written work
Student Support Services Guidance Counselor Available for both academic and wellness support Tutoring Student tutors are available one on one and we offer a afterschool Math club supervised by teachers and advanced students Teachers Teachers are available by appointment before school, after school, or during breaks to meet with students College & Career Center Our CCC Aid is here to help students explore different school and career pathways Library The library is open before, during and after school as a resource for students. The computer lab in library is available for students for research and to complete homework Wellness Counselor Our Certified Wellness Counselor is here to help students work through a crisis and other emotional needs Peer Resources Students in our peer resource class are trained to facilitate peer mediations and offer support to fellow classmates

IMPORTANT REMINDERS All parents/guardians must have an active email address to enroll a student. Families will need to create an InfoSnap account using a Snapcode that will emailed to you in May 2017. Complete the registration process by June 30, 2017. JUHSD will provide tutorial sessions to assist in the registration process. Signups for the tutorial sessions will be available April 24, 2017.
