  1. + Lara Cordina year 5 roses The Astonishing Curtains by Enid Blyton

  2. + Mary had a lovely doll s house . When Grandma gave it to her on her birthday it was quite new and empty . Grandpa gave her one pound and Aunty Susan gave her fifty pence . Mary went to the toy shop to spend her money on the doll house s furniture . She got lots of furniture . Nurse told her not to buy the curtains today because she would be too busy arranging the furniture . So Mary kept her fifty pence for the next day. Mary bought the furniture and went home . When Mary arrived home she began to place her furniture in the doll s house . Mary spun the fifty pence and when it stopped spinning it went in a mouse hole ! Mary tried to get it but it was no use . Tears began to come down Mary s eyes .

  3. + That night when Mary had gone to bed the toys in the cupboard came trooping out . They were so cross with the little clockwork mouse . It s all your fault that Mary lost the fifty pence, said the panda angrily . After this, whilst Mary was asleep, the toys helped the mouse start the special curtains. They all got red Autumn leaves and the dolls put them together to make the curtains. Once the curtain was ready they hung them in the dolls house. When Mary woke up the next morning, she found this wonderful surprise. Mary was so happy and was looking forward to show Grandma!
