  2. Objectives : I can explain the events of September 11th, 2001. I understand the significance 9/11 had on the United States of America I can explain how my family was effected by the events of Terrorism I can define a terrorist

  4. Discussion: Were you born yet? What discussions have you had with a parent or other adult about what they remember from September 11th, 2001 What questions do you have about the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks?

  5. Discussion Answers: After September 11th, 2001 some Americans wanted to round up all the Muslims in the same way that the U.S. Government rounded up Japanese Americans during WWII. Japanese Internment is widely seen as a mistake. Did our country learns its lesson, or make the same mistake?

  7. Why? Why did these terrorists decide to attack the United States? It is a complicated question. Osama Bin Laden, credited as the leader of Al Qaeda, supported and condoned the attacks, and likely participated in its planning. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is usually considered the mastermind behind the attacks. The 19 terrorists wer all on the four planes and all perished on 9/11, along with 2,800 others in planes and buildings.

  8. Continued As muslim extremists, Al Qaeda had declared a religious jihad, a Holy War against the west. Many (but not all) muslims view the United States as the cultural leader of the West, symbolizing things like Christianity, promoting things like promiscuity and loose morals, and supporting the state of Israel, an enemy to many followers of Islam. For all these reasons the United States was attacked.

  10. September 11th Memorial Official opening on September 11th, 2011 exactly 10 years after the attack, The National September 11th Memorial and Museum was dedicated to the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives in the attacks.
