Teaching is stressful. The demands placed on teachers can result in emotional exhaustion and burnout, causing many to leave the profession. Teaching a lesson to a class can become quite a challenge when the teacher have to deal with a difficult student or students.
Early career teachers were more likely to say that they would try different effective strategies Effective techniques behaviour, and motivate students to feel good about themselves and the decisions that they make. teachers that choose encourage discipline positive will
Define Expectations Specifically define your expectations and help students understand there are consequences for unwanted behaviour. When students break the rules they need to be ready for the consequences. Write out and define each expectation you have, and post them in a visible spot in the classroom.
Student Expectations for the classroom: Stay seated during classroom activities and events Raise your hand before speaking Show respect for school property and students Be prepared for class Be considerate and respectful
Parent-Teacher Communication Make sure they know what is going on; how often they are in trouble, and what trouble it was. Get parents involved in their child's education. Communicate with parents by: Creating an open-door policy Email, text Weekly or monthly newsletter Progress report Parent conference
Reward Acceptable Behaviour When the students that are not behaving, see the students that are behaving get rewarded for that behavior, it sets a positive example.
Disciplinary Committee Consists of five teachers The form teacher is always there but he/she is not a member of the committee The teacher who sent the student to the committee is also there If there are a lot of problems with the student or he/she has serious behavioral problems /fighting, stealing/ They usually give the last chance to the student The highest decision: exception or prohibit the given student from continuing the year
Never give up No matter the behavior, don t give up on trying to reach that student the negativity may be a defense for something deeper. Keep up the good fight!
